Vintage Empire Strikes Back Figure Stand — Kenner Prototype

Hey guys. I was at a sale not too long ago and found a box full of old Star Wars items (in case it's relevant, this is all coming from the United States). The man claimed his father used to work for Kenner (!) and because his parents divorced when he was little, his dad would try to win him over by showering him with Star Wars toys.

Since his dad apparently worked for Kenner, I believe what I bought from him is a prototype Empire Strikes Back figure stand, very similar to the mail-away A New Hope stand with the sticker labels with the figures names and the rotating circular stands for each figure.

I'll post pictures later, but it essentially looks the exact same as the New Hope mail-away stand, but with a white label and black text instead of the black label with white text. Also, and oddly, there are 12 rotating stands just like the other, but the label only has 10 names from ESB.

Those names are (from left to right and as written on the label) Rebel Commander, Dengar (Bounty Hunter), AT-AT Driver, Ugnaught, Leia Organa (Hoth Battle Gear), Han Solo (Bespin Outfit), Yoda, Imperial Commander, Lobot, 2-1 B (Medical Droid).

What I believe I have is mentioned here at the end of the first paragraph (http://tinyurl.com/lxcavsq) and here in the last two sentences of the second paragraph (http://tinyurl.com/nxaaerc). From the limited research I've done, it seems like it could be fairly rare piece.

Is that the case, and of course most importantly, what's the USD value on this thing?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Got some pictures up!

Ha, thanks, Liam!

I've got the pics up now. I just didn't have my chord with my to hook my iPod up to my computer when I posted yesterday. Hopefully now you knowledgeable folks can help me ID this item.

Here's a couple more:

Thanks, aussiejames! I read and skimmed that entire thread, but still don't know what the conclusion was.

Mine doesn't have the back drop, unfortunately, but from what that thread says and the two links I posted, it seems quite rare. But prototype or extremely limited production? That thread said something like only six have surfaced.

Value?

No one has any other info on the thing? That thread didn't provide me with anything totally conclusive. :|

I think that the main issue is that no-one knows that much about these - yours isn't complete so it would be hard to price up anyway

If you want to try posting it on Rebel S um you might have some joy - alternatively if you are looking to sell it then maybe something like this should go on eBay so that the market decides the price

I don't really want it, no, but I don't want to just slap it on eBay either. What would I price it at to start?

IF it is something that people don't know a lot about because they're quite rare (seems to be the case), I'm going to get the very short end of the stick by putting it on eBay. The winning bidder might not even know exactly what it is they got!

But that's not the only reason I posted here. It wasn't just to get a price on it to sell. I'm interested in its value, of course, but I just wanted to find out if anyone had any more information on it. I got some, but not a lot. And that's not to sound ungrateful. I'm very grateful for the people who have tried to help give me more information, but these things seem fairly mysterious.

My thoughts ( which generally don't count for much  ) Ebay is your best bet. 7 day auction starting price at 99 cents and a reserve of $200. $200 may seem 'cheap' but at the end of the day the sticker is all someone is paying for. $200 can buy a Revenge of the Jedi proof, a small 'prototype' coin & other equally rare items. Your description should include links to the RS thread & the SWCA article. 'Most' rare & expensive items are bought & sold on Ebay. You could start a thread on RS asking about your item ( you can not promote or mention an ebay sale there ) but your auction could start a week or two after you bring it to light  You may also get some messages/offers to sell it beforehand.

Cool. Great advice, aussiejames! I'll try that.

Thanks everyone for trying to chip in on figuring this thing out!
