Re: The future of Vintage Star Wars collecting

I think if they keep making films and spinoffs the original stuff will only rise in value, look at comic books, the early Superman and Batman comics from the 1930's go for hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions.

Do they need to be?

Reminds me of 1999 when everyone was buying up Phantom Menace MOC's thinking they will be worth something one day.

Re: Kenner retro collection now available for preorder

It’s the age of nostalgia. Every thing is getting reissued. Think about the bloke working a crap job who likes the original figures but couldn’t possibly justify dropping 50 quid on a loose figure. But he could buy an average condition figure and a repro weapon off of ebay for nearly the same money...

Re: Kenner retro collection now available for preorder

I don't really think it's the figures that will cause problems, it will be the weapons and capes.

Re: Kenner retro collection now available for preorder

A chap I'm friends with on FB hinted at this ages ago and just posted this, which I think is interesting... Gents, I’ve been sitting on this news for 6 months so now that it’s finally out I can breathe better And for those are are still hoping for Tarkins and what could have been? Well, I hate to t...

Fair enough though if they are date stamped 2018/2019 I don't see a problem there.

Re: Kenner retro collection now available for preorder

I’m just glad I completed my loose run years ago, wouldn’t like to be starting out now with all the repro about . I think they’ve missed a trick here because of lot of collectors would have really got into figures that weren’t released originally , eg... Y Wing Pilot Tarkin Han Stormtrooper Luke Dag...

Re: Kenner retro collection now available for preorder

But I thought those 4 pack ones from 1995 had 1977 stamped on them ?

Let’s just hope the weapons are a tiny bit different so people can tell the difference .

Can you imagine if they re-release black palace blasters or pop up lightsabers that are identical.

Re: Kenner retro collection now available for preorder

I assume the date stamp on them will say 2019 ? Hopefully

What about the weapons ? If they are identical to the old ones that’s going to be another lot of repro flooding the market.

My guessing is to get a reaction like he is getting , bit like the guy who was opening MOC’s on camera a few years back.

Re: Guidance Advised: 2,387 Vintage Figures Melted

I’m guessing he must be pretty wealthy , probably a lot of beaters in there but also some more expensive £15-£20 figures so say an average of £4 per figure that’s £9.5k he’s destroyed.

Re: New collector, first event - Farthest From?

The Sandown toy fair is pretty good but don't expect bargains, mostly dealers but it's good to actually inspect the item before buying as opposed to Ebay.

Re: Perception Of Repros In Different Hobbies

With a classic car I much prefer a car that is a little bit more “worn in” and original over a car that’s been restored with all new parts, you can’t replicate that old car smell and feel.

Perception Of Repros In Different Hobbies

I was thinking the other day that in some hobbies repros are looked on differently and not in such a bad light ,has anyone noticed this ? For example one of my other hobbies is classic American cars and sometimes there is not much option but to go for a reproduction item , eg a bit of interior trim,...
