Re: Perception Of Repros In Different Hobbies

The Miroman/Micronauts hobby is beginning to see reproduction items via 3D printing. Although some of the parts in individual kits are extremely rare, the demand for them isn't such that they can be sold for a great deal. There's more a spirit of assisting the collecting community by making parts av...

Re: The Star Wars Phenomenon in Britain book available with 30% off until the end of January

Thanks very much. I've not heard anything negative about the book so far. People are really enjoying it.

The Star Wars Phenomenon in Britain book available with 30% off until the end of January

I thought I would let everyone know that my book is available from the distributor with 30% off until the end of January. If you enter STARWARS30 on the order page at the Eurospan website, the price works out as £24.46 which is the cheapest price around. https://www.eurospanbookstore.com/the-star-wa...

Re: Darth Vader toyshop visits

Interesting. I've heard before that a Darth Vader on tour stank of sweat. I didn't get that close to the one that visited Romford. He was pretty animated so I kept my distance!

Re: Price sticker dilemma

I get the impression that stickers relating to specific toy shops are becoming more desirable by collectors. The rarity has been magnified by people (like me until recently) peeling the stickers off.

Re: 41 years ago star wars had premiere in London

Here's another advert from later in the cinema run that mentions the Ilford Odeon where I saw Star Wars.

Re: Darth Vader toyshop visits

This is a fantastic thread. It's amazing to read people's recollections and see so many photos. My only experience of meeting Darth Vader was when he visited Debenhams in Romford. A photographer from a local newspaper set up a photo of all the children surrounding Vader. Me and my friend were too co...

Re: 41 years ago star wars had premiere in London

Star Wars didn’t have a premiere in London. It simply opened on December 27th 1977 at the Dominion Theatre Tottenham Court Road and the Odeon Theatre Leicester Square. Premieres are organised to generate publicity and Star Wars definitely didn’t need any more in the UK. The country was already Star ...

Re: Price sticker dilemma

I wouldn't blame anyone for removing stickers from their vintage items but I'm a recent convert to the "leave the sticker on" point-of-view. I started keeping the packaging for my Star Wars toys in my childhood and the first thing I'd do after removing the toy would be to carefully un-peel...

Re: Does anyone recognise these Star Wars items?

Thanks. I'm aware of the Star Wars Unleashed Battle Packs but I couldn't find those particular characters on a Google search. I find the Unleashed figures to be a little out-of-place as they're generally speaking very expensive and not scale to anything. Star Wars Command are cheaper and are roughly...

Does anyone recognise these Star Wars items?

These solid Star Wars figures were on eBay but the seller didn't answer my question regarding their origin.

Can anyone tell me what toy line they came from and maybe also how tall they are? I'm not a great expert on modern toys.

Thanks.

Re: Exclusive discount price for “The Star Wars Phenomenon in Britain” for SWFUK

Really good to hear that you enjoyed the book up until the point your parents took it off of your hands. You are pictured within, so I can understand why they'd be so interested. A bit rough though if you're part way through the story!

Is anyone collecting Star Wars Command toys?

I picked up a few sets when they were first released but held off from the entire range as it was a bit pricey. Recently I’ve been taking advantage of some bargains on eBay. Some of the prices are surprisingly high though such as the Millennium Falcon set and especially Jabba the Hutt. One disadvant...

Re: Exclusive discount price for “The Star Wars Phenomenon in Britain” for SWFUK

Thanks for all of the positive comments everyone. The book is now available in the UK and the USA. The discounted price via Eurospan is still the cheapest price that I'm aware of. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, including some great reviews. It feels like a great payback for all of th...
