Re: Reproduction Weapons

I think others have hit the nail on the head - it's the instant gratification mentality versus the thrill of collecting a set of something over a period of time. I invest time in both educating myself about the hobby, which enables me to invest time in different ways of sourcing as many bargains as ...

Re: Star Wars Toy of the Week, Week 38, 2018, Part 2/2

First the pilot, then his ride, Lars? :-) OK, then! When I was a boy, I remember eagerly buying a Twin-Pod Cloud Car. The Pilot hadn't yet been released, hence the somewhat odd artistic choices made by Kenner's box photographer!... I can't say I remember Luke Bespin co-piloting a Cloud Car with a B...

Re: Earliest Vintage SW Memories

I also remember going to the cinema to see SW on its UK release. Well, I don't so much remember seeing it as coming out of the cinema afterwards! I think I'm pretty sure the reason I remember coming out of the cinema is because I was just amazed at what I'd seen. It also wasn't our usual cinema, so ...

Re: Star Wars Toy of the Week, Week 18, 2018, Part 2/2

I purchased a boxed Kenner Falcon from the US at the start of the year, but it's been at my brother's house waiting to be sent over. I finally received it last week. The radar dish is loose, so I'm treating it as a puzzle and expecting to spend endless hours trying to get it back in place!! M...

Re: Star Wars Toy of the Week, Week 38, 2018, Part 1/2

Excellent stuff! I love that 45-back... even with the phantom floating head   Cheers, it's probably one of my favourite MOCs. I'd love it on a 48a too. amazing, 2 moc and one with a moon on the front, that must be a very rare moc  oh sorry, just read the last line, so it was just y...

Very nice. And that's also some good photography to capture the pilot!

Cheers! It's amazing what you can do with a phone camera!

Re: Star Wars Toy of the Week, Week 38, 2018, Part 1/2

Some great stuff so far guys - loving the mixture of MOC, extensive cardback runs and figure variants! I've always loved the CCP. Even as a kid I found the look so different to the other figures, and I'm sure I bought him as soon as I could. Here are my two MOC - one ESB Kenner 45-back, the other RO...

Re: Rarity perception

I think a lot of the misconceptions about rarity stem from the early collector guides that were nearly all written from a US perspective in the early 90's. It's all we had in the UK so had nothing else to base rarity on pre-internet other than what we were finding in junk shops, carboot sales and f...

Congrats Christian, that's a great gesture.

Here are a couple of my die cast TIEs and my Power Droid.

You absolutely should. I don't have much room for my display so I move things around quite often... but the display stand with the first 12 always stays front and centre!

EDIT: Added newer pictures.

Here's mine, displaying the first 12 in GW acrylic case and with the mailer box and instructions.

It's a great item and definitely the best way to display the first 12, especially if it's in a GW case :D

Re: Time for a charter, standard or professional organisation?

It's an interesting idea, but with so many relatively small-time sellers, and so many different selling platforms, I just can't see people buying into it. I like the idea but feel it should be covered by the mantra "don't be a cunt" It's a sensible ethos, but it's clear that some people ha...

Re: Response to Claims

I've no involvement, axe to grind or side to take in this, but at the root of this there's been a deliberate attempt to deceive that has cost many collectors a lot of money, and the person at the centre of it seems to have absolved himself of any culpability (and moral obligation to refund people) w...
