Luke Skywalker snowspeeder 2010

I recently obtained a Luke Skywalker 2010 snowspeeder, the one with the grey paint scheme and projectile firing cannons. It is currently fitted with the non firing cannons and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to detach them. They do have a small amount of movement in them to twist slightly to the side but then they stop. I don't want to apply too much force in case it snaps the laser cannon. Is there a trick to getting them to release?
