The Star Wars Collectors Archive Blog just posted a couple new articles, if anyone's interested. I wrote about Star Wars related court cases, such as the Kenner employee caught stealing a case of Luke figures in 1979, LFL suing over an unlicensed Star Wars pornographic film, Kenner's claims that original wax sculpts are tax deductible, and the entire story of how and when Fox started pitching the Star Wars brand to toy manufacturers and why almost all of them passed on it.

Ron also wrote a cool article which tracks the rise and fall of Kenner's LP logo and speculates on whether or not the Star Wars line lead to its demise.

Anyway, hope everyone enjoys!

As discussed on the podcast if you haven't read this new blog then I really encourage you to do so they are really fascinating.
There's also a comments section on the bottom to ask questions on the articles and it's great to see people do that. :D I recommend everyone join in and ask questions/post interesting facts to make it better, rather than just one line sentences which will turn it into a facebook type mess.
Highlights for me so far are the Common Misconception, the DT Saber in France and the Court stories. Really good stuff.

just read the court wars article very interesting read about Ideal releasing the Star Team Figures so is this the reason that Kenner released the Early Bird Certificate Package or had they always planned on doing that

No, they'd always planned on doing that in order to get something on the shelves in time for Christmas. While I'm sure worries about another company, like Ideal, coming along and releasing Star Wars-ish figures and stealing Kenner's thunder played a role in that strategy, they'd always planned on releasing the Early Bird certificate. The choice was rather controversial back in the day though, with many newspapers and commentators calling them out for selling kids an empty box. You can read a bunch of different articles saying as much here:

Part II of Court Wars is up, covering SW vs BSB, Darth Vader assaulting a woman at a mall, the forgotten screenplay where Indiana Jones visits Peruvian prostitutes and more!

Read it earlier today. The only one I was aware of was the BSG case and I guess it makes complete sense that LFL lost that one. :D

The husband who claimed a beating from his wife using his lightsaber
