When they're not open to offers!? It seems like a pretty obvious concept to me - if you list something at £300 or best offer, you are hoping it sells for £300 but realistically will consider anything over about £250. Obviously you shouldn't take the piss, I think offering anything less than 75% is rude.
But I keep coming across people that send me back counter-offers that are like £1 less than their asking price - one guy just sent me a £99 counter offer on a £100 item (I offered £80.) Why do they bother? Why not just list it at £100 if you're not willing to take anything less? It's a complete waste of everyone's time.
