Palitoy MOC price disparities

As some of you may or may not know, I'm trying to get a collection of Palitoy MOCs (see the previous thread I started by me fo rthe terrible description of what I mean).

As such, I've been completely befuddled by the prices of anything pre ROTJ, e.g. I was watching these on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170920307920?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180989634190?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170920308505?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180989636258?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

And they all went for pretty high prices - I thought I'd be in with a shout of the Luke Bespin but I think I'd get my balls in a sling if I paid over £103 for that one! So, ergo, methinks all these Palitoy cards are super rare and expensive and then I see these (after the act):

Absolutely gutted to miss those. BUT, okay, they were reseales/opened but why such a disparity in the price? I guess it's all down to who needs stuff at the time.

cheers

You usually pick up stuff on forums cheaper than you do at auction, that isn't a guaranteed rule but for the most part people set their prices so they can shift their stuff because they are dealing with forum "buddies" and don't have to pay fees etc - all in all selling on a free forum to a bunch of gits like us is a lot more fun and a lot less hassle so there is no need to price your items out of all reality.

At auction - anything can happen and it usually does. Not to mention that many Palitoy cards (reseals or not) are very sought after. If you think £103 is going to have you saying goodbye to your bollocks you might as well quit now! If Gary said you will find this venture an expensive one, you can count on it being just that.

Going off the prices that I paid for the few 12/20 backs I've got, they seemed to sell for what I expected. If anything the R2 and maybe 21b went for a little less. I think the low (75) grade on the R2 card didn't help.
As for the Luke Bespin, there's been a couple on eBay that were in pretty good nick. 1 is around 1k and the other £650 with a yellow bubble. I guess that makes £100 for the other one seem ok.
In general, Palitoy Star Wars and Esb can be really pricey, hence re seals being popular. Even the Jedi cards seem to sell for a little bit more than the Kenner ones, but this could be because the bubbles don't go yellow as easily.

Expensive! I try to block out of my memory what I have shelled out for MOC Palitoy SW & Empire over the last 4 years!! :?

I'll keep plugging away and hide the values from the Mrs! I'm not too fussed about condition really - hence the broken bubble Luke Bespin. I'd probably go down the resealed route, well if it was an original bubble that is. Something like my latest posting in the new additions thread.

There is no way this is going to be cheap. I think those reseals sold pretty low considering I have seen some sell for well over £100.

You want a complete film related run on Palitoy, it is possible. I've done it sealed and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

If you are prepared to use reseals along the way then that will make it a lot easier and a lot cheaper.

But it will be costly and will take a long time!

But there enough of us on here to help along the way

I'm sure somewhere there are rarity lists for Palitoy. That might help if you looked through old threads.

Just a bit! I wanted this but once it started creeping over £80, lost interest. It's in really good nick, but over £110 for it is way too much.
