The Vintage Rebellion returns with a plethra of changes.  Simon McOwan joins the team for his first show as a full time host, alongside Andy Goulding who joins the team as guest host for this month.

Derek Ho joins Stuart and Simon for this months main interview as we delve into his collection and growing up with Star Wars in Singapore.

The lads get together for possibly the most varied New Acquisitions yet, where the conversation ranges from the Popy range to Airfix kits.  Simon pulls a Hutchinson with a Palitoy catalogue, Richard speaks of a beater Kea Moll and gets introduced to Uncle Gundy beaties.  The main element is an in depth discussion on Luke Skywalker original... or is it Farmboy???

Rebel Briefings sees the guys bravely tell Ron Salvatore (from a good distance away) that he's got something wrong on a SWCA blog post.  This is followed up with a cracking interview on a diorama display and a closing of the baggiegate story... for now.

Grant says goodbye to the podcast with his final Beyond The Toys section, as he speaks with Jonathan McElwain for the concluding part of looking at food tie ins.

We also have a Farthest From special where we here from Edd Grant, Dan Burgess, Scott Cato, Stephen Savory, Darren Quinn and Jason Smith who all attended the show.

And watch out at the end as Episode 40 will see the team return to a permament five piece and we announce the final member to make up the crew.

We hope you enjoy the show.

If I don't enjoy this show it would be a first out of 39! Which is unlikely. Thanks guys. As an amauter audio fiddler, even levelling the audio for these epics and getting them pro must be big job. :o

Grant is leaving? That's v.sad to hear. I hope he might occasionally return like Obi Wan as a force ghost, and gently deliver wise musings...

Really enjoying it so far.
Shame about Grant leaving, hope he pops in now and again, still lets call it evolution rather than revolution!
Glade some of the answers were of use in your quiz Richard, would love to hear all the ones that you had to exclude. :? :o
Looking forward to the next 3 hours or so.
Keep up the great work.

Cracking episode as ever guys and really enjoyed the new lineup moving forward. A real shame to hear that Grant won't be a regular part of the show any more but I'm sure he'll drop by from time to time, always interesting to hear subjects I have little to no knowledge about so he will be very much missed.

Great news about Pete's return though and I'll try not to think about his views on reseals......well, we can't always be right about everything after all :D . Seriously though it is good to have him back and with Grant stepping out it's the perfect replacement.

One thing I've mentioned in the past about the Palitoy catalog is that I also had one in my Palitoy Death Star growing up but my local toyshop at the time in Bristol also had a whole stack of these same catalogs on their counter during the Empire era. I grabbed a few of them at the time (which I still have one of), so I'm thinking that other shops throughout the country my have also been given some from their toy rep. Maybe this is how other people who didn't own the Death Star at the time could have had one or maybe even the shop owners inserted them into other SW toys. Just a thought I had that I thought was worth a mention.

Looking forward to next months show and as ever I still find this to be the best SW related podcast out there for my interests so keep on keeling on!

Ian

Well done chaps! Another great episode in the bag and a tonne of knowledge once again filed in my head.

The interview with Derek was brilliantly done; having heard a lot from him before on The Chive Cast, I wasn't sure how he might have more to say, but in actual fact, the accessible level delivered by you, introducing him to us a new source of information and inspiration was deeply refreshing and much appreciated... it certainly filled a lot of gaps for me.

I was also fascinated by Grant's swansong interview; I own three Fanta/Coke bottle tops featuring Han Solo (oddly enough), but had no idea they had such a wide range to collect behind them... I'd always presume two drink types and maybe a dozen images.. brilliant information and a mind boggling run at even a most basic level to put together!

Genuinely gutted to hear from Grant at FF that he was leaving the show, but having talked with him, I fully understand his motives and can't disagree that it is the right thing for him at this time. His contribution will always be there and has in many ways his personal passions have changed a great number of people's interest and understanding of what is truly available to a Star Wars collector.. Beyond the Toys.

The Blue Peter analogy as to how the show will likely evolve over the next few years is actually a very encouraging concept... The more people involved as the Podcast evolves can only add quality and knowledge from these new sources, which is a bonus for all avid listeners!

Fantastic podcast. I enjoyed all of it. I’d like to echo other people’s comments about Grant leaving. It’s a sad loss indeed. I hope that he meant what he said about staying close by the collecting community.

I don’t have anything to add about the ‘Death Star catalogue’ that hasn’t been said already. It was an honour to contribute a little, with some information about the model kits. I’ve researched pretty much everything about them and I’m always willing to chat, provide information, etc.

I really liked the section about the Star Wars board games. I managed to find the SWCA blog but I’m not sure that Ron got it 100% correct. According to my knowledge, Parker designed the Escape the Death Star Game and it was simply branded “Kenner.” Examples of the game in Parker packaging are fairly common. This was also the case with the Destroy the Death Star game (my one is branded Parker) and probably all of the other board games too. General Mills called upon its different appendages to produce the Star Wars line, such as the DIE Cast range, which was produced by Fundimensions but branded Kenner.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Grant leaving, Si joining, Pete rejoining.....what a rollercoaster!

Another fantastic podcast lads....great interviews on FF (hoping this will be a regular thing). I also enjoyed the Kevin Ho interview, seems to like Leia Hoth as much as me!

I looked at the board games online after they were mentioned and definitely want the ESB ones for the artwork now.

Keep up the good work and hopefully see a few of you at the upcoming London meet up

I'll echo the guys above sad to hear Grants gone, but fantastic news Pete is back - genuinely missed his Lemington tones.

Really enjoyed all this show but particularly the FF interviews. Really brought the show to life and made me sadder that I'd missed it. Roll on December.

The board game piece was great too. Not heard of a few of those games before, but can confirm that the sarlaac is a great game. A regular household fave at the spoons house

Wow, now that 6 hours flew by. When are we going to break the 10 hour mark? ;)

Another " crackin' " show fellas. Really enjoyed the interview with Derek Ho. Interesting to hear how the Star Wars fad hit Singapore. I'm even more jealous that his SW club meets up every couple weeks. We really need to get one started out here in Oregon (can't let the Seattle guys have all the fun as Palifan said to me the other day).

Just had a look at Steve Johnson's diorama. What a great idea and even better execution.

During Jez's LA segment, I believe it was Simon who was discussing props and custumes and mentioned that the original Leia dress and most of Han Solo's costume has been missing for years. I'm curious what happened to them. Back in 2006, My wife surprised me with tickets to go Star Wars, Where Science Meets Imagination. It was an exhibit that came to OMSI in Portland, Oregon for a couple months and there were a bunch of original props. Included in these props were Han and Leia's original costumes. I attached some pics from that event below.

I'm also sad to hear Grant is stepping down from his regular hosting duties, but will look forward to him making some guests appearances. Simon did a great job and will be a fine addition to the crew. And lastly, I'm thrilled that Pete will be returning. Can't wait to hear what new impressions he has up his sleeve along with his Market Watch. And I agree, bring back Top of the Pops! :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again (and again, and again). This is hands down the best Star Wars Podcast (of any kind). It's entertaining, love the banter and the fact you all don't take yourselves too seriously. It's also extremely educational. I've been collecting off and on since the early to mid 90's and I still learn something new virtually every show.

Carry on my good men. Carry on!

Thanks guys, it's really sad to see Grant step down from presenting but as a really good friends I'm delighted and excited for him with his choices and outlook for his new journey. He won't stray far and I'm sure he'll join us for an episode or 2 in the future.

I think all 4 of our guest hosts have been awesome over the last 3 shows. Each brought something wonderfully different and enhanced the show. Thanks Andy, Simon, Marc and Scott.

To get Simon to join the team is brilliant, a massively knowledgable collector who has been involved with SW far longer than he's been on the forums. I look forward to what he brings. Plus he's another baldy, always good.

Pete is back. Praise the lord. So, so happy.

Thanks for all of the feedback lads it's great to read your points of view.
Seahawks I've sent Andy a message about your props photos. Cheers
