Hi all,

I've picked up a couple of figures with baggies over the years but am thinking about selling them on as I don't know what to do with them in my collection. Trouble is I don't know much about them, and what with the fake baggie scandal, I'm just looking to find out if they're Kosher or not.

I have the following:
- 3 x Removable limbs C3PO (2 x sealed, 1 x open)
- 1 x Nikto (sealed)
- 1 x Prune Face (open)

I'll post each in a new post within the thread. Any help greatly appreciated.

Jay

First up, my open C3PO. All three of my threepios come in what looks to be the ROTJ-c baggies, which reading Frank's thread, is the most common baggie, the most common to fake and the most common to swap out.

I think the baggie is ok, but was just wondering about the Coo of C3PO. It is a No Coo with blank raised bar. Given its a Kenner baggie should it be a HK Coo?

First image is of ROTJ-c from Frank's thread.

2nd up is a taped ROTJ-c baggie. Again I think the baggie is ok. However, firstly the net is folded in half which is different to how I've seen them usually displayed and secondly it has double taping. So my question is, is it factory sealed or has it been opened and re-taped? Has anyone seen double taping or folded nets on this baggie before?

3rd up is another sealed ROTJ-c baggie, this time with single taping. I think this is legit but you may disagree because the tape is very clean.

Next up is my Nikto. I think he is in a Palitoy-i baggie. On Frank's thread he describes these as an open bag. Mine is taped. I couldn't tell from Franks description if they were found both taped and untaped. Also mine is taped unusually. So I guess I'm asking is it factory taped or taped at a later date? I think it's a legit Palitoy-I baggie. The first pic is from Frank's thread.

Finally, my Prune Face. Judging from the baggie that Nikto was in I am guessing this is also a Palitoy-i. However, the pic on a Frank's thread does not look like the one from the Nikto post. So is this the correct baggie for the figure? The first pic is from Frank's thread.

Thanks Emille. I didn't want to bother him as I know he is busy with a house move. He's only dipping in and out at the moment. Know he's half way through updating the baggie thread. Was hoping someone like Laurence Dyer or anyone else with a bit of baggie knowledge might pick up the thread, otherwise I think I will PM him eventually.

Frank is quite busy currently with real life so I thought I'd chime in for you pal. I'm sure Frank will add his own opinion in good time as and when he is ready to.

Frank is often doubtful of Palitoy i open baggies as the figures can be easily switched out with less desirable figures being removed for a more desirable figure in replacement in order to command a greater value. The encouraging thing with your open baggie is that the figure inside is what I would deem a non desirable figure so bodes well in my opinion.

The Palitoy - i baggies most frequently come as open baggies and occasionally come as tape sealed baggies.
The ratio of tape sealed baggies to open baggies turning up is approximately 1 in 10. The statistics stated are figures supplied by an active Palitoy i collector who has several i baggies credited on Frank's guide and the stats are based on 5 year's of watching the item's becoming available on the open market with a total sample of circa 50 baggies being available for purchase.

Both of the examples you have posted look good.
The Nikto is one of the figures that has been found several time's tape sealed and I also have one in my collection tape sealed.
The prune face bag also looks good and other i baggies have surfaced with the text in different places.
I hope this helps.

Laurence

Thanks for your reply Laurence. Very encouraging, especially regarding the tape seal on Nikto. If you have an opinion on the threepios I'd also be interested to hear it, particularly on whether the open baggie is a figure swap because of its Coo.
Cheers
Jay
