How do you clean figures?

Postby Taffius » Mon Feb 19, 2018 9:53 pm

Hi all,

Probably been asked before but I have a few figures acquired now and some could do with a litle light cleaning as there is just general grime, etc, on ones I have received.

How best to tackle these? Fairy liquid and a little light brushing or is there another proven method?

Suggestions or link to previous topics welcomed as dont like their dirty look or condition. Many thanks.

Warm water, weak fairy liquid solution, soft toothbrush, gently does it, will do the trick

A bath with Corega Tabs. After that a soft toothbrush or a dirt eraser.

Yeah wet wipes here too, and then a careful dry off with a soft cloth/hand towel, works great on sticky figures.

Mild baby wipes - great for cleaning figures and dirty ships and playsets. Then dry with kitchen towel. Works a treat :)

Wet wipes. Even been known to remove stubborn marks and some factory paint marks if you’re persistent but careful.

I also use baby wipes. Just cleaned some beaters with them today.

No baby wipes so it was fairy liquid and gentle brushing with a soft brush head.
Clean now. Will get baby wet wipes on next shop!

Yep baby wipes without perfumes, and for more sticky things I use a soft makeup sponge. For detail I use extra cotton earwax sticks. I always dry with normal cotton or an usb fan and my soft cotton gloves which serves two fold. No fatty fingers and automatically drying effect.

For light I use a pro head mounted lamp. You see dirt much better. I also use this kit when I visit house holds for loose figure inspection (and magnifying glass)

I never bathe them. And oh yeah my dolls are looked after. I still don’t have a clue how to display all 600 though so I might end up selling a “complete” 110 ish batch with the most common variations...
here on this site of course first.
