Well hopefully that got you to take a look Spoons

I'm 99% sure I know the answer to this already but I thought I'd just double check anyway.

I bought this Micro Tie Fighter years ago and it was sold from an American ex-Kenner employee (so say at least), as some sort of Tie prototype. I was more than doubtful at the time but the price was ok and I needed it to complete my loose run.....well saying that I am still missing the Tie Bomber but I don't think I'll come across one of those at a price I'm happy with ever!

Here are the pictures I took today of it for those in the know to pass their eyes over just so I know for sure that there's nothing special about this Tie.

Thanks in advance for looking :D

Ian

Ha ha - that did make me look Ian!

But it's standard die cast rather than micro collection - did the seller say it was micro?

Either way I can't see why it would be a prototype - the coo looks standard (but I'll need to double check) and the fighter looks like a standard second issue with the white wing pegs.

There is a smaller bodied prototype tie but I think they all have yellow lasers - you'd need to check against another body just to make sure

Otherwise it's possible it's one that was used to test for wear. Any signs of deliberate scratching?

Unfortunately I suspect it's a standard issue but one that's in lovely condition

It's a very clean V2 Die Cast Tie Fighter. Nothing stands out as prototype to me but spoons could be correct in saying it could be a quality test example. From the pictures I'd say it's more likely just a nice example of the Version 2 Tie unfortunately as there is no paint scratch lines or pen markings to note quality testing.

Thank you for the information gents and my mistake about calling it Micro Collection (I was up since 4am with a sick child so I use that as an excuse  ).

As I suspected it does seem to be a standard version but I didn't know about the scratch test and smaller body shape so that's all great to know and builds my knowledge. It's so long ago that I bought it that I can't really remember the listing for it which is a shame. I do seem to remember the seller having some other kenner items for sale but I've no idea if he really was an ex-employee or even what he did at the company if he did work there.

Thanks again and I'm still happy I have a fairly nice example of this vehicle.

No problem Ian

I used to own a dc carded tie from an ex-employee. That was just a regular tie and even had the pop removed - I guess they got regular stuff to bring home too
