Was Star Wars really the top selling toy in the UK in 1977? I think this may be just a bit of lazy research by Argos to induce a bit of nostalgia in time for Christmas (Otherwise I'm sure Star Wars would have been number 1 from 78-83 (I remember the news stories on Cabbage Patch kids so will let them have 1984)

Did the original source say UK? Might be US source and utilised poetic licence? :lol:
However surely the reason for early bird was because Kenner was not ready in 1977?

Apparently they are trying to promote the Argos Toy Exhibition at Tottenham Court Road. So I guess they are trying to say as many toys as possible to get interest.

Shame its all lies!
