Items you now regret selling?

Thought it might be fun, or perhaps therapeutic  , to discuss some of the items we've sold over the years but now really regret doing so. For a long time I didn't really sell anything, other than duplicates, having a somewhat of a broad collecting spectrum. As I started to develop some focuses I have sold off a few MOCs here and there that didn't fit in at the time. Now, with a change of direction, I wish I'd held on to them.

What item or items do you regret letting go?

Its tough to nail down which I really regret as each one allowed the purchase of something else which I would not otherwise have had the funds for.

One big one though would be my laser pistol with Kaybee stickers.

So many, I'm sure anybody who's been collecting a long time will have loads. Some of them make me cry thinking about them  A few 'highlights' are:

Lily Ledy Luke Jedi MOC, sold for £400 in 2007, saw one on Facebook recently for about 3 grand

Palitoy Jedi Luke Farmboy. Paid £30 for it in the 90s, sold it for £80 in about 2002 when I was skint. This isn't a particularly expensive MOC, but they are quite rare and I regret it because it was from my 90s collection so the next best thing to my childhood toys. Thankfully I picked up a replacement recently after a lot of hunting and begging!

Palitoy ESB Han Bespin, got it for £35 from an eBay BIN in 2006, immediately sold it for £350 but it would be worth more like a grand today.

Moral of the story - don't sell anything you won't be able to get back again! I now try to only sell really common stuff. And if anybody happens to own any of these now, please sell them back to me

I've never sold anything Star Wars so no regrets. I just have a really random miss match collection and loads of modern stuff sat in the loft which I really should sell. :)

Not really regretted selling anything Star Wars, but I do really regret selling my Mattel Landram form the Galactica line.
I bought mine MIB complete in a mint box in the early days of ebay for practically nothing, $50 or so and it was rare back then.
I'd be looking at thousands now to replace it for one in simialr condition - if I could even find one.

All really nice items guys. I would personally have regretted letting go that blaster and Ledy Luke especially at today's prices! But you're right if they're sold to buy something else, then it doesn't hurt quite so much.

Yes, I bet a lot of us wish we hoovered up VCJs for £100-200 each, which is what they were selling for up until about 2010. Could have retired selling them on Facebook a few years later!

No selling regrets as a collector, I haven't sold anything that's really valuable or would be hard to find again. Or that I didn't want to sell. My only real selling regret is always my childhood figures and Falcon that went at the bootsale when I were about 14/15 years old :( :( :(

I sold a **** load of POTF2/90's stuff that I sold to buy a Vespa. I regret selling that collection.

But I am enjoying collecting the vintage figures and ships in had when I was a lad :D

Thanks Chris, you know how to pull my strings.......

I had a reasonable collection in the 80s and 90s which cost me next to nothing.
Mostly Tri Logo's as these were "poor man's Star Wars MOC" (not that they were called this back then) as everyone wanted Kenner.
Remember that these were not that old back then, so all were in great condition and easy to pick up.
And I would truly love that Miss card back!

But before I load a few pictures up just wanted to say, Edd, Ham and Carl so sorry that you parted with thise items, they are truly amazing.

Wow! That's a lot of MOCs to part with.

I think I'm perhaps a little unusual in that I never really part with anything unless I'm upgrading, so I can't really add much to this thread other than sympathy!

And that's only part of what I sold off. :(
Believe me, that's the best possible position to be in!

My regrets are a really long time ago back in the year 5 playground. Sold a handful of my shop bought figures for extra pocket money. The upshot is that I sold them to one of my best mates who I'm still in contact with - we both became big vintage collectors in the early 90s like most of us. He still has them, and I've never propositioned to try and get them back, but I feel a sense of contentment that I know where they are.

Mine would be a Canadian carded droids r2 for £60, sold it on eBay about 15 years ago, also POTF endor playset. Still have to look forward though to new things.

You should definitely ask him, a decent friend would understand. Offer to replace them with better condition versions to make it a win-win.

Yes, as Edd says, no harm in asking and if he's a true friend I'm sure he'll see right. :)

The only time I had to sell up was in 2006 when I moved into a cupboard with my ex, but I kept my loose run and my best pieces including a minty Rancor Monster and Falcon, and only had to let go of a few vehicles and playsets and a set of mini rigs (which I had absolutely no regrets about).

Recently I did have to sell a minty loose PBP Luke Bespin to fund a purchase, which I'm not happy about but not totally gutted about either. And the piece I have gives me more pleasure. It did present a dilemma and I can understand some of the guys on the forum being gutted at loosing some of the pieces put up on this thread. That Ledy Luke Jedi, Tolstoy's Jawa, Laser Pistol and Tri Logo Yoda come to mind.
