Hi guys,

I thought I'd follow in Frank's footsteps with Darth Vader from a country perspective. Plus someone suggested to me that I do it, and I have to admit, I'd like to see how it comes out.

So, I'd like to add to this post as time allows and show you Darth Vader MOCs from across the world - starting, of course, with Palitoy (which I have already lime-lighted previously). I hope this thread helps any other would-be collectors with what's out there.

The saddest part is that after ALL of the above there are still variations for me to find! Palitoy is a LOT of fun. :)

Canadian run for your viewing pleasure. Every time I think I've found all there is Vader-wise for Canada, I find another piece! There were some really great items from Canada and the GDE logo on some of the early stuff is up there with the Palitoy logo in my opinion.

Star Wars

First up is the really rare 3-Pack. I actually hadn't even seen one until I came across this one. The back is particularly interesting because it has only two sets advertised, as opposed to the US version with 3 sets.

Empire Strikes Back

ESB 32 Back - apparently very tough to find.

And the ESB 41 back - looks identical on the front to the 32 back:

Return Of The Jedi

Then there is the iconic ESB-ROTJ Transitions card. The very clever - and CHEAP - way of preparing for the new movie :)

And the only actual ROTJ Card for Vader to come out on was the 77 Back:

Playsets, vehicles and accessories:

For some reason, the Canadian Die-cast DV Tie is a 20 back, whereas the US version was a 21 Back.

So that's Canada for now....... Might do Australia next.

OK, I promised Australia. This is still missing one key piece - the Star Wars 20 Back, but still, there's enough to enjoy I hope.

Star Wars 12 back - the first Toltoys cards had the figures measurements on the Reverse in inches, although Australia changed to metric in 1966. These were possibly the earliest Toltoys release using the Kenner card as a template.

The second version of the Toltoys 12 Back card, then had the metric measurements of the figures, as well as a gold 'Republic of China' sticker in the bottom right corner:

Kenner 12 Back with Metric Measurements sticker - I am actually uncertain when these were released, but they were an Australian variation having a sticker with the metric measurements (in millimeters) of the figures. Its possible they were Kenner 12 backs imported by Toltoys, who then put the metric sticker on, to meet the increased demand:

Toltoys ESB 45 Back - with Toltoys Aussie address (its the ONLY thing that makes it different to the Kenner 45 Back):

Kenner ESB 47 Back - with 'Offer not available in Australia' Sticker:

ESB_Vader_47bk_Toltoys_Front.JPG

Toltoys ESB 48 Back - this is actually a New Zealand cardback with the Toltoys addresss added where the Kenner 48 Back would have a POP and Barcode:

Toltoys ROTJ 65 Back - 65 Back with Nien Numb offer, very similar to the Canadian NN offer:

ROTJ_Vader_Toltoys_65bk_Rev.JPG

POTF Anakin Skywalker - sort of Darth Vader....

POTF_92a_Anakin.JPG

Toltoys 12 Inch Star Wars - released without any reference to the figures size. Other Toltoys 12 inch releases had the measurements blacked out, but these were made omitting any reference to the figures size altogether:

Toltoys 12 Inch ESB - Same as the SW release and made omitting any reference to the figures size altogether. These were reportedly actually on store shelves in Australia and New Zealand:

Japan!

Star Wars figures had three versions. The first was the Japanese COO Vader with a white background. This is sometimes confused with a Kenner cardback if the Takara sticker falls off. The lack of a COO on the Reverse of the Cardback is the giveaway that they are Japanese carded figures:

Then are two versions of Kenner cards with different Takara Stickers over the Kenner logo - one with 'ST' and one without:

SW_Takara_no_ST_12b_AFA85.JPG

Then there is the very cool 8 inch version:

SW_Vader_Takara_8_Inch_Rev.JPG

ESB versions were only in the very quirky POPY boxes with sealed baggies:

Jedi put a sticker on the back of 65 back cards:

Then there is this strange figure that I guess came from the Star Wars era:
