Hi all,

Through my work documenting all Norwegian extras and crew who participated in the 1979 Finse shoot in Norway, I have been able to unearth- or should that be unsnow- several props used and kept by some of those involved. My most recent find is a screen-used vest (see screen capture) and gloves/boots combo, all from the same source. Even though the items are worn and incomplete, it's nice to know things like these still exist, as the rebel costumes largely were shredded and thrown away after the production ended. This one is now on its way to a collector who will preserve and display the pieces properly.

Cheers,
Martin

Thats amazing.

So through your research you found these.

Did you not want these your self?

Have you a screen pic of the of the guy that wore these?

No, I'm not into props as such, this find was just a bonus and I am very happy to let true collectors have it. The owner/extra is shown in the screen capture in the top of the original post (center guy).

What a fantastic find and great to hear it's with a collector and not an investor!

Do you know much about the hoth costumes? I've always wanted one of the hats for when I hit the slopes. 8)

Something like this would be awesome in my Hoth Rebel Soldier collection. So good to hear that they are with a collector with a specific interest and not just being sold on to the highest bidder - good work fella :D

The new owner is a discerning collector who thankfully takes the conservation and display bit very seriously. And the costume did go for a very decent sum in the end even if it was a bit beat up. Always a nice perk to have these items turn up during my research. I know for a fact there are more items out there...

I've often pondered this question - would you swap your entire vintage collection for a certified screen used prop of equal or slightly higher value?

Maybe a cool little question to put on the main page?

I had money on the fact they'd gone to you. Bummer, that would have been an awesome addition. Loving the Wampa!

Thankfully, I am not into props so that's an easy one for me. Somehow they dispel some of the magic as, once in hand, a lightsaber doesn't work and a blaster rifle doesn't fire laser bolts. hey just become worldly, prosaic objects out of context. Nicely crafted of course, but no- give me vintage toys any day!

Awesome find. I always love seeing props because they look so fake and cheap/tacky in the flesh.
