1st time I saw it, I HATED IT. Way more than anyone else's post on here. Worse than Episode 2. Absolutely gutted.

2nd viewing- Fuck.......its still awful :(

3rd viewing- Holy Shit, I'm really into this......its actually really good.

4th viewing- this is my fourth favourite of the lot, and the third best made.

I'm being honest. Strangest cinema experience ever.

Roll up 5th viewing.

Haha, I think this is why I’ll just watch it the once, for now, as I seem to be one of the few who loved it, A LOT. Don’t want to spoil it.

Tried watching TFA a second time hated it even more, 3rd time never again. Considering how much I hated TLJ be my only viewing ever not even going to buy it on DVD or Blueray.

There are plenty of good moments, but far too many wtf moments, which have been picked up in this thread. Maybe I need to see it again, but won't be dragging myself to the cinema to see it. I'm genuinely concerned about the future of Star Wars films.

Totally agree mate, I think its ruined.

I'd go again mate- I think your safe. The script, screenplay is super smart. There is a ton of visual references, metaphors and easter eggs that are dead clever.

Thank God, I was utterly gutted.

This is a very true statement. I can't see this being any different to other Star Wars films whereas there is redemption. Rey's role in this film was not what I was expecting and Finn is just a spare part now. There was no real reference to Reys training etc and nothing like what we would expect.

Also, there is something about the kid at the end-Reys brother perhaps?? I dunno, but its obvious it means something but I honestly can't see them recovering from this movie.

I've always wondered if going to see the same film so many times in a short period has some effect on thinking? Does your mind become conditioned to the fact that you are trying your hardest to like something that you know you don't really like?? Strange theory, but interesting.

Don't worry mate, this was just something I was talking to a guy at work about. He loves the Godfather movies, but he cannot stand part 3. He has tried to watch it again and again, but eventually conceded that he would never like it. I think its the same with all movies.

Do you think they were probably trying to copy ESB a little bit with the Jedi training part?, cus I mean even then all Luke did was run with Yoda on his back and do some somersaults and lift a couple of rocks and did that test in the cave, we didn't see anything else and no lightsaber training whatsoever and even as a kid I remember thinking how fucking basic is this lol, maybe he did 'train' a lot more and practice some combat only it was never shown to us so maybe we were left to just assume that the rest of all that stuff happened.

Do you think this could be the same case here with Rey and Luke in this film?

Do you feel that this is because this film challenges all of your expectations regarding a star wars film? Perhaps a little over protective of things in the first couple of viewings that caused the dislike but eventually a lowering of your guard and removal of expectations then allowe you to embrace the film for what it is?

I dunno, just a theory.

Exactly this! /\/\/\ Tons of people are massively over-protective of SW, because it has become part of their formative years. When you see things that are a little WTF!!! they can't hack it, and understandably so (to a certain extent). Just think people need to chill and see it for what it is. It's got so many amazing parts, very well acted (especially compared to the prequels, but also the OT to be honest) and is taking us all on a different journey than we expected.

The Leia scene has been trashed, but why wouldn't Leia be able to summon up what little strength she had left to get herself back to the ship? She can use the force FFS- why the outrage? I suspect it's because we haven't seen her use the force before (apart from her telepathic link with Luke) and because of the way she floated. How was she supposed to float back to the ship? She's pretty much frozen in space. It went against what people EXPECTED, but that doesn't mean it's ruined. Same with Yoda- we actually got our goofy Yoda back from ESB and people have been complaining that he looked shit
Collecting SW since 1980.
