Hello, a friend has asked if l will sell this Cardboard Death Star on his behalf and l would be grateful for some advice. It is definitely not in mint condition: some parts have rips (which l think could all be fixed) and it could do with a clean. I think all the parts are there but would be grateful if someone could let me know if they are not. Is the best place to sell this on ebay and if so how much would it roughly be worth. Many thanks Baz

Hi and welcome,
OK, I'll stick my neck out and have a go at a valuation.

The playset looks in pretty good nick, but from what I can see it's missing a few items to complete the set.
2 pairs of clips, top ring, instruction sheet, clear plastic stands and the Palitoy catalogue.

On the plus side, you've got the gunners chair and plastic canopy, which are the sought after items.

As for valuation, I'd say around the £250 mark.

Cheers

looks like a pretty solid valuation with the condition of the set and what seems to be missing but the box does look to be in good condition so if all the flaps are intact you could add an extra 100-150 GBP onto it on a good day.

The prices are all different on these and not always dependent on condition - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-Death-Star-Vintage-Palitoy-1970s-Playset-Boxed-with-instructions-/332179148022?hash=item4d576b8cf6%3Ag%3Ar%7EwAAOSwDKtY1mJN&nma=true&si=6vuIFMWi1qRnRVwTqlJgCEyI4x4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I was in the £2-300 ballpark so similar to what you've had already, if you go to the for sale section I think someone is selling the figure stands that you're missing for about £30 which could add at least that in value.
The other bits are obtainable but you would probably be looking at £70-100 to complete it. You would obviously be adding value with every part obtained

I've been after one of these for a while so I've been watching the prices, and the valuations you're getting seem about right, especially if it doesn't have the catalogue or instructions.

Two things that aren't clear to me from the photos. Does the base still have the mirrored stickers attached? And is the trash compactor door still attached or ripped off?

In answer to earlier questions lve added two further pictures. The mirrored stickers are attached but look to be in wrong place (not sure if they can be moved). The compactor door is attached ( as long as lm looking at the right piece). My friend thinks he may still have some of the missing pieces highlighted and is going to try and look them out.

As a final comment on this l managed to sell this for my friend for £500, slightly more than what was suggested so he was pleased.
