Hi all,

I'm going to sell one of my Palitoy Death Star play sets and I'm looking for any thoughts on the value of it so that hopefully I can find a buyer on here, ( keeping the forum a happy place to be :D ).

The play set itself is complete although there are no instructions, stands or the catalogue that originally came with it. As you can see from the pictures there are definitely some issues with it which would bring the price down I'm sure but it could make a nice repair project for someone here. There are a few bumps and bruises in places and parts where the card is starting to separate but these could be easily glued back together to help smarten it up.

The main problem is that one of the larger wall sections is ripped in half with part of the doorway decal missing. The play set can however still be set up without repairing this section and holds together well so that's a bonus at least! I'm sure I have a replacement part for this section but can't find it anywhere but I know they can be found on eBay from time to time for around £30.
The Trash Compactor door is broken at the hinge and the there's parts of the flap that connects the Trash Compactor missing. This connecting part is quite often missing or completely broken but this one is at least intact and works great.
One of the mirror sections attached to the base is a little wrinkled and there's a mark on the base next to it.
The top of the plastic shute that connects to the Trash Compactor through the ceiling has some marks on it and I'm unsure if it's been glued together at some point but I didn't want to pull on it to hard to find out, it is intact though.
The box is admittedly a bit of a mess in places with the end flap missing and various tears on it throughout. I know this could be made to look a bit better with some time and care but at least it's an original box and not one of those Orm garbage ones (think that's his name).
All the other plastic parts are in great shape with no damage and as usual the clear canopy has yellowed. One other good thing is that the wall/floor section with the blue Death Star picture on it is unripped and this usually is the section that is broken on most sets you see for sale.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on it and hopefully this can find a home where it will be enjoyed and bought back to life a bit.

Ian

Even with the issues my thoughts are £3-350 but you'd be better waiting to hear from someone that knows what they're talking about

I agree that £300-£350 sounds about right. Yes there are issues, but there's also still a lot going for this playset even so.

Best of luck with the sale :)

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll see if there are any more and then have a think and put it up in the For Sale section.

Much appreciated.

A loose complete one recently sold on ebay for £370 BUT that was in really good shape and little to no issues at all - obvioulsy missing the box.

I sold a really nice one - boxed with the instruction sheet but minus the canopy for £450 at the last NEC in December which was a bit of a bargain but the box end flap had been off and I'd repaired it.

I agree and I think a realistic price for it to sell would be £300-350 Ian. Whilst the box does have issues it does have the basis for a good, displayable set. Weirdly, I had a loose end flap that's missing from this box but sold it late last year for £30 :(

They're always in demand so I doubt you'll have any issues selling it.

Thanks for that Mark, really appreciate it and it's up in the For Sale section now.
