Hi.

How much is the Frosted Lando POTF coin worth?
UK Pounds or US Dollars.
Ive added a couple of scanned pictures.
The bottom picture the 1 with the 3 Landos in has the frosted coin top right.
You can see the frosting to the writing,Lando and the Falcon compared to the normal coin on the bottom.
If you look at all 5 coins and look at the Millenium Falcon on the frosted, bronze and
the 1 in his little white case, the Falcon is slightly higher, above the word Rebel than in the other 2.
The stars,dots vary too.
If you hold the coin sideways on and twist it round you can see slight variation in thickness in places just like some of my other older coins. You can see the difference between old coins to the newer reprints. They are a lot thicker.
Ive weighed the 1s i can on digi scales and the frosted comes in at 5.33grams.The normal Lando is 4.73 grams and the bronze is 4.67 grams.A bit of difference.Maybe it was made a bit heavier than the normal coins because of the frosting, who knows?.
I dont think its a fake?.Well i bloody hope not.
I also own a couple of the fatter reprint coins which weigh in at 6.53 grams and 6.47 grams.

Ive added the details in the hope i can get a valuation on the coin.

Thanks.

Thanks Joe. :)

Here's another blurb of text about the frosted coin from the archive entry A Coin is Born

Kenner is also known to have considered the idea of producing their coins with frosted detail, an effect produced by having the dies strike twice when stamping out each coin.An unknown number of Lando

Frosted Lando:
At one point, Kenner considered releasing their coins with frosted detail, but the idea never made it past these Lando test coins. Calrissian/Rebel General coins were made with this frosting, but very few have surfaced to date. For some reason, Kenner decided not to follow through with this idea. In all probability, the increase in definition provided by the frosting was deemed not great enough to warrant the minimal cost that would have gone into producing it.

As far as pricing goes, I haven't followed this coin as much as the regular 62. However, I did find two old sales threads. One seller was asking $250 for one in 2003 and another $175 almost 2 years ago. I would say anything in between those two prices would be a good starting point if your looking to sell.

The weight of your coin is correct with other Frosted Landos. Some of us coin collectors compiled some data awhile ago. From what I've heard, the Frosted coin should also have a larger diameter because it was struck twice. The heavier weight could mean they used a thicker blank because they knew it was going to be struck twice for the frosting effect. This is just my speculation though. I have noticed that it seems the legit coins that appear thicker actually weigh less than some of the ones that appear thinner. If you haven't read it yet, this thread is a good read from a year ago.
