Here is an updated list of all the official SWF rules to be followed by members.

We don't have many so please take the time to read them and we wish you all the best with your sales.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND ADVICE FOR SELLERS:

Darth Wensleydale said:
If you are new to the forum and looking to sell a collection or some of your pieces please take the time to read this first:

(1) Please let us know who you are, where you are from and how you acquired your collection. We get a lot of sellers who just post a whole collection for sale with no introduction or involvement in the forum. Such posts are rarely well received given the number of scammers around. Remember if you can't be bothered, why should we?

(2) Take some good clear photographs and give accurate descriptions of condition and whats included. Even pocket digital cameras are very good these days if you use natural light and spend a little time taking the shots. Time spent on good photos is always helpful to potential buyers. Instructions on how to post photos to the forum are given on the first page of the vintage collecting chat section.

(3) Do some research, this forum and ebay are excellent resources for identifying what you have and what the value might be. Sell your items individually or in small lots rather than a large collection. If you are new then members might be more willing to take part in a smaller transaction. If this goes well then feedback will be left and you stand a much better chance of selling more.

and finally, please take part in the forum, we're a friendly bunch! :D

PAYPAL GIFT/FRIENDS AND FAMILY PAYMENT RULE:

edd_jedi said:
UPDATE - this rule has recently changed, please read below:

New sellers cannot ask for Paypal Gift/Friends & Family payments. You may only request gift payments if you have at least one positive feedback here:

http://starwarsforum.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=22

If you do not have feedback yet, you must factor fees in to your price and request Goods payment.

If you do send a gift payment to a seller, please remember that there is no comeback if things go wrong so we recommend only sending gift payments to people you know and trust. This site does not accept any responsibility for personal private sales.

ALL SELLERS MUST LIST A PRICE:

SWF Team said:
Please make sure that all items in your for sale threads have a price attached to them. Members that aren't sure how much their items are worth are free to ask for help in the valuations section. Any for sale thread that does not have a list of prices may be temporarily locked or deleted.

ONE SALE THREAD AT A TIME:

SWF Team said:
Please be considerate to other sellers and do not create new posts for every item. Separate threads for MOCs, loose, vehicles etc are fine. If you would like to create a new thread, please do so and then ask a mod to move your old thread to the 'sales archive' section.

DO NOT DELETE PRICES OR SOLD ITEMS

SWF Team said:
When your items sell, please do not delete the prices or delete the items from the threads. This is in case anything goes wrong with the sale, so there is a record of the items sold. Also we move sold items to the archive section, which if prices are left in acts as a price guide over the years:

NO REPROS!

SWF Team said:
The sale of reproduction weapons, figures, or anything that could be confused with a licensed product is not allowed on this forum. Anything that is not a direct copy of a production item, eg foreign bootlegs or customs, are fine. Reseals are also OK (although must obviously be listed as such.)

NO U-GRADES!

SWF Team said:
In support of the recent movement against U-grading, including UKG's pledge to stop the practice, it is no longer permitted to sell U-graded items on this forum. The ONLY exception to this is items that have come from mailing/shipping boxes, eg U-graded baggies (still in their bags) or sealed mini-rigs.

APPROVED TRADERS

SWF Team said:
We have a rank for Approved Traders that consistently offer a good range of products, fair prices, are honest, and adhere to the rules. You can identify them by their rank sabre:

If you are a trader and would like to be considered for the rank, please drop one of the mods a message.

EBAY AUCTION OUTING

SWF Team said:
While discussion of open/live auctions is permitted on this forum, DO NOT post links to recently ended auctions that have not yet been discussed. Wait at least 7 days after the listing has ended. This is to help prevent what is known as "back dooring" where an unscrupulous buyer will contact the seller and offer a higher price. 7 days should be enough time for the buyer to pay, and seller to post.

Please make sure when you sell you are not asking money to be sent as a gift payment. Either take a hit on the fees (or factor it into your sales price) or ask the buyer to cover them, this is the safest option for everyone.

Cheers!

Rule update, U-graded figures are also now banned. If you see anybody post one for sale, rather than hurl abuse at them please can you point them to this thread as they might not have seen the update. Thanks.
