I'd not really thought about it before but is it possible to list via ebay.com so items appear in US buyers regular searches, even if you are in the UK? I presume it still requires anyone in the US to search worldwide for items.

I have a few items that could do with greater visibility in the US, anyone got any ideas? :?

I would think most US buyers use the worldwide search, especially the hardcore collectors.

As long as you list it with "will post worldwide" option and include the postage costs then it will appear on ebay.com with no problems.

Yes as long as you list as will post worlwide in the shipping, It will show up, otherwise us americans must use the search worldwide feature. I usually just go to ebay.uk myself.
