How reliable are saved searches?

I often questioned this, I have a few saved searches and once or twice a day I check them and occasionally I type in the search and things came up that I was not notified in the save search and you go WTF!! :lol:

Yeah notice that too. Sometimes people on here have bought something recently that should have appeared in my saved searches, but I never saw it. Also very weird the order they display results. Some things repeated.

Yep, missed out on scores of items cos the saved search didn't pick them up.
