Speaking of scammers, I thought it worth mentioning an experience I had recently.

Perhaps the alarm bell should have rung with the story about a CDT teacher. Anyhow, it seemed like a good deal as was described as mint/would grade quite high at AFA. Looking at his sales history and other items for sale, he's had plenty of experience trading AFA items. You can't see any close up detail from the pics he listed.
Received it, and its a clear re-seal in my view. You can see tear marks beneath the bubble seal, and its also mucky where its been glued. Here are a few photos:
What's more the acryllic case seemed identical to the ones AFA use - i.e. correct size, no sliding back to remove the figure, curved edges on the front side etc. Pretty clear from that to me that the figure was previously refused grading by AFA, who merely cased it.
I complained and said as much to the seller - i.e. that I believed he was trying to scam me - he must have been aware it was a re-seal etc, and that his CDT teacher story was nonesense.
To be fair, he didn't argue and gave me a full refund. Can't help but think he tried it on though. Who knows, he might relist it shortly. Anyhow, he has another figure listed, this time a Snaggletooth. Same story about the ex-CDT teacher hence the acryllic case:

In his defence, this time its a larger case and he does mention that its not an AFA reject - perhaps in light of my complaint... why he didn't mention it on the DSD auction though if he was sure. Anyhow, don't AFA use a variety of case sizes?
Maybe I'm being unfair, but I'd advise a little caution before considering a purchase of this guy.
