WTF Did anyone else watch these two auctions?

Post links to your own or other people's Ebay auctions. It is fine to discuss live auctions, but DO NOT post links to closed auctions for at least 7 days after the listing ends. See sales forum rules for details.

WTF Did anyone else watch these two auctions?

Postby TheJabbaWookie » Sun Jun 03, 2018 7:30 pm

Did anyone else watch these two listings last week? The end prices were astronomical. They still appear in the sold auctions in eBay but if you click on them to get details they are no longer available. Thoughts please.

If they are Kenner 20 back B debut cards they are like rocking horse shit, hen’s teeth etc.

An old thread on rebel scum that I used for reference when I was researching Kenner 20 backs

Yeah the offerless debut 20 backs ara very hard to come by. Think that is the first Greedo I've seen, perhaps the second. Certainly the hardest Kenner dubut run to put together.

Apparently only two collectors have ever completed the run of offerless 20b backs. Fascinating stuff.

Just listened to the podcast review of this piece and it made me want to revisit the links and read in more detail. The headline quote I picked up was

“Now that I think about it, I've seen less of each of the 2nd 8 on offerless 20s than I have of 12 back DT Lukes“.

Thanks for making me revisit it Rich. I’m going to see if there’s any other info out there. I’d be interested to know if aussiejames has any further opinion on the pieces in his childhood collection and their origin, and if he had had a chance to reflect on the Australia / Singapore theory since 2009.

Also there seemed to be some debate on the rarity of the items with some mentioning Snaggletooth and others saying LXW. Snaggletooth sold a week later than Greedo and Power Droid but only for $2133.12, less than the other two items sold.

I'm desperately seeking an R5 now. Even rough price would help. Guess the Aussies are my best bet.

It was a theory put forward by an RS member. They thought the 20c was the debut US release. Don't know how far it got
