After some time I have decided it’s a OK film with some stunning effects but also a load of crap bits.
Nothing like what I was hopping so gets a five.
talking to people at work it seems split as to who loves and the oh well maybe next time

A solid '7' to honour the now unemployed len goodman. Best moment for me was the ending of phasma. Fuck me, her character was about as strong as a Porg fart!!

I'm going for a 4 at the moment, if Luke wanted to live like a hermit and be left alone in peace why was there such a build up to find him in TFA? Why did he instruct R2 to reveal his location if he never wanted to be found again as he said:? I really enjoyed the TFA and R1 but i never really felt any magic with TLJ maybe after a few more viewings I might but I doubt it.

8 for me - great acting, score and visuals let down by being too long and some obvious plot holes.

Not picking on you, but "8" and then "too long and obvious plot holes"?

Amazed so many people have given this a 7 or more. It had more holes than Rab.C.Nesbitt's vest and his vest probably smells better too.

Fair point, I think I just found the things I liked carried more weight with me than the things I didn’t. The score I thought was very much a Star Wars score rather than the nothingness we got with TFA, the acting was much improved (I hated Adam Driver in TFA but I thought he rocked it in TLJ, as did Mark Hamill despite how difficult it must’ve been), plus the visuals were proper Star Wars visuals - the Dreadnought, the Walker scene, the throne room etc., they felt epic and memorable. All that just out-weighed a bit of contrived plot-writing, and a wasted 10 mins at the Casino.

I understand some people may have a different opinion and that's okay but the film is now sitting at a staggeringly low 54% on the Rotten Tomatoes review website.

And despite the best efforts of "The Establishment"(MSM etc) to discredit the low score by saying it's bot, or fake accounts, Rotten Tomatoes have said today that all the reviews have been verified and are 100% genuine.

There's also a petition on Change.org calling for the film to be removed from the Canon of Star Wars films.

"Have Disney strike Star Wars Episode VIII from the official canon".

It's currently standing at over 40,000 signatures.

Fair dos. For me the plot holes, actually scratch that, the complete lack of any meaningful plot ruins it. I don't even mean the SW based plot, holes I mean the general "WHY would you do THAT??" plot holes, ruin it for me. Such a shame as I really wanted to like it.

Nah, didn't get a chance when we brother was over.

The more I've been thinking about it, the more plot holes I spot and the more I dislike it. Disney will judge the success of the film on how much money it makes and TBH I'm fucked if I am going to give them any more money that'll go towards the " Ohhh look we did well, we made (insert huge number) Dollars world wide" let's keep going people obviously like it.
Besides, I'm not sure repeat viewings are going get me over the gapping plot hole that is that completely non sensical chase scene. It's the central part of the film and it's just bullshit.

I'm not in the "It's ruined SW Disney should burn in hell"' camp.
But I do think it's a truly poor film. A couple of plot holes I can accept (gravity in space and ur fat chinese bird's sister not getting sucked into space through the open bomb door etc), a few always slip through. The Snoke and Fantasm thing are similar to the Emperor and Boba, we didn't get back story with them and they were wasted chances. But the rest of it is just so underwhelmingly poor. They haven't really tied it in with TFA or the other SW movies at all beyond a very basic level, and plot points/character arcs have just been ignored or finished in such piss poor ways. Bits of it read like a plot written by a school kid in an exam who is told they have 5 mins left and they need to finish up.

As I said previously it is a million miles better than the prequels, though I stand by my comment that saying that is like saying getting a speeding ticket is better than coming home to find your family raped and murdered. The ending of George's obssession with CGI is a plus, and the graphics and CGI in the film are great and don't look out of place or OTT but I just can't get my head round the piss poor plot.
As someone said, the SW films aren't aimed at us old farts, they are aimed at kids. I guess I just hoped I would still be able to enjoy them. Now, to me, SW (the new movies) are just the same as any other franchise, I may well go and see the next film in the cinema or I may not. It'll depend what I have on at the time. It certainly won't be something I look forward to or count down the days to.
The days of SW, the entire franchise not just the OT, being special to me are gone. That's what saddens me. Realising that the series I loved so much has moved on and become something I can't really relate to. It's a Guardians of the Galaxy typed thing now. It's "ok", it'll kill 2 hours, but it doesn't hold up to the most basic of scrutiny and if I never saw it again I wouldn't be worried.

Sad that SW has become that for me, but such is life I guess.

Sorry, very long answer to your question. But, 'no' I haven't been to see it again and
I won't be watching it again either. It's closed a door for me.

The prequels also made a shit tonne of money and we all know how good they were. The difference is George only planned 3 of those he could ride the hype through without the poor quality of the films really affecting profit's. I suspect this won't be the case if Disney keep churning out films like this with no end in sight.

Also I don't agree with the "these films are made for kids so us old farts don't matter". It's a 12a so kids can't see it anyway and there are also plenty of great films for adults with a 12 (or lower) rating.

I am a solid 7 out of 10 - lots of bits wrong for me - the way they handed Luke was not how I would have wanted it to play out - although I do understand why they did it - Mary Poppins was ridiculous and some poor character development - that being said as a film it was good - I enjoyed the comedy, I thought the pace was good and I enjoyed the nods to the OT - I also fully understand why they have gone in this direction - they are starting a new franchise for a younger generation - I am going to take my daughter next week and I know she will love it

I have a theory about that, I think he really did want to be found, but just said what he said and acted the way he did just to test Rey's patience, kind of how Yoda did with Luke goofing around with him to test him before he found out he was Yoda.
