Have I been tonied?

I restarted collecting MOCs just a few months ago. After having read the various threads on the TT scandal I went through my carded collection and discovered a 2-1B that looks suspicious. I've also read Mr Palitoy's Cardback Guide but am still not 100% sure. May I ask you for advice:

2-1B
General Mills 45back
Single Stem Bubble
English Text on Back
Bubble Seal is (unlike the photos of TTs I have seen) not slick but waffle pattern
bubble size looks ok
The number on the bubble is barely readable, probably 03

Many thanks in advance.

Mr Palitoy is your man for this question but the waffle seal makes me think it's good.

Best of luck with ti.

Yeah pretty sure the 2-1B is fine evan as it's English text and Jason will tell you for sure, especially as he has a 2-1B focus as well. :)

Like the frase 'tonied', it's up their with Tonygate.

Hi.

Single stem waffle pattern bubbles are ok. Particularly if they are numbered. He only had one number. I can't remember which but I think it was 08. Jason will chip in at some point but I'm pretty sure all the signs point to this being original.

Toni did a load of twin stem bubbles with slick seals and iron marks, particularly scratches on the cardbacks and the v in between the stems. Plus the big bubbles with the slick seals.

Hope this helps. There are a few guys who will comment further on this.

Edit - scratch that - just read this from Jason on another thread "2-1b is a Toni. Uses the double stemmed bubble he used, has no pressing on the back and a weak looking seal. The used cardbacks I have seen are the other card type without English text on the back. Have yet to see a genuine German 2-1b MOC"

unfortunately a waffle seal is not a sign of being genuine

Toni had a stack of original bubbles and the waffle was apparently already on those bubbles - the heat transfers the waffle 'glue' to the card.

A waffle is a good sign but not definitive

Toni bubbles are all 03

I'd love my GM Han to be real but refuse to believe I'm that lucky

Well if it's 03 then maybe it's not good? Where's Mr Palitoy when you need him?!

Barely readable number isn't great either as Jason thought that was a sign of too much heat from the iron

My Han is the opposite - too clear a number like not enough heat

Toni really has ruined this hobby for me some days

Well everyday is a school day - I though the waffle pattern was a good sign - but maybe not - does it look like there is any impression on the back at all ?

Just found this thread - different bubble but Jason states that he hasn't come across a genuine German 21-B

Not on the back of mine Iain

There is a very faint price sticker mark so it could be legit, but I genuinely don't think I'm that lucky

Impression on the back is not really strong.
I checked the number on the bubble again, it is definitely a 03.

Many thanks for your help!

I had hoped that the waffle seal would help identify this one as genuine but it's a Toni.
With a fake seal looking this good I will certainly stay away from all good condition General Mills Cards from now on.

Cheers, Marc

Limited wifi and access time in Egypt. Only one of the pics downloaded and that shows a good picture of the waffle seal. The single stem I have of this has a weak seal and no bubble number. I looked before and saw a picture of the back that showed signs of pressing. From what I've seen so far I would say this is genuine.

Cheers Jason

Rest of the pics have showed up now. I think it looks good.

P.s if you are selling I need a genuine one for my 2-1b focus

:)

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned - but have you noticed the different punch tabs?
The top of yours is curved but Lees is more of an inverted 'v'.

Yeah the curved punch is German Text on the back and rounder punch is English text I think. Good way of telling from the front.
