Hi all, could you take a look at this card please and give your thoughts on it. I has some differences from other Palitoy 12 backs. It is about 4mm smaller than other cards and has a waxy feel to it. It doesn't have the writing under the Palitoy logo and has a white price patch in top left corner. On the back is has a few differences as well. Most if the writing below the 12 figures is slightly different. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Looks like a 12 Back-A - but according to Jason's guide it shouldn't have that price box

This is well worth a look - http://www.freewebs.com/mrpalitoy/sw12acardback.htm

I think your suspicions may be correct - I think it is a recard made to look old. Look how far apart the bubble edges are, you can see here that the Leia bubble is nowhere near that wide:

Colours look wrong too, but hard to tell from a photo. I think the punch is also a little too far left.

Yeah looks like it was once a replica MOC. Many repro makers attach the bubble to the card with double sided tape on the sides which is why there are two straight lines of litho tear on the card, something you wouldn't see on an original card with a bubble sealed all the way round. Terrible colours on that card too.

Yep..Fake. Washed out colors and the white paper tearing dead giveaway. Not to be bad guy but I always wonder If this is someone testing the waters or a genuine question.

I messaged this chap on ebay when he pulled the listing Todd, he seemed to be pretty genuine and had a few people say it was a prototype card, and some say it was fake so he decided to take it down not really knowing what it was either way.

I get the impressions he's genuine, he took my advice and came here for information from you guys as I said if anyone knew about this, you all would.

He also said if he found out it was repro, he would destroy it :)

Thank you all very much. I will throw it away as I am not a fan of reproduction/ fake stuff.

Saw this when it was on eBay. It just didn't look right and am pretty glad I didn't go for it. Very sad that someone would do this to genuine collectors.

Shocking that they now fake used cardbacks!

Fair play for destroying it and taking it out of circulation 8)

Dont think its a fake card back as much as a repro moc that's since had the figure removed. Ie not produced with the intention of faking a used cardback. It's just ended up that way in someone's hands.

As rotten as they come unfortunately. Good on you for tearing it up.

I would think that it has been deliberately aged - and maybe that even included removing the bubble as well - the damage is quite excessive for something that can't be more than a few years old

That's just a Kenner card image with a bad palitoy logo imposed over the Kenner logo. One of the easiest fakes to spot due to the Kenner white square top left still being there. It's mentioned on the 12a page on my cardback guide.

Cheers Jason
