Super, smashing, great pieces guys... loving them.

Here's my lowly effort compared to those.. but they do have a story..

Trilogo Yak.... well, it is Yak Face, and considering the prices lately, was lucky to get this one at a reasonable price..
Nein Numb - Never bought this figure back in the day on the card, only mailaway.. So nice to have a MOC version finally.
C-3PO - The only 12bk I have a hope of owning in this current climate.
Jawa - Again, the only non Palitoy/Kenner figure I will own.
Boba Fett.... the mighty Boba Fett on genuine Palitoy 45back card...Not a sign of TT in sight.

I miss my Boba, however I'm very pleased to see him still in your collection Mark 8)

These are always my top items, and the reason we do what we do. :)

I know what you mean. I picked these up too. They are among the most Starwarsy things in this house.

I've decided to take this thread as top 5 vintage items that mean the most to me. So here they are:

1rp5zn.jpg

They are all toys from my childhood, but these specific 5 standout for these reasons:

The Luke Bespin is holding the only weapon to have survived storage at my parents house. I was also mainly into SW during the ESB era so it was purchased at the height of my young collecting obsession.

The first star wars toy I ever owned was a solid dome R2-D2 but somehow has been lost. However, I have many treasured memories of the periscope R2-D2 too, and with losing the other R2 his value to me has gone up even further.

The Luke farmboy is a very early purchase for me, probably around 79. It shows more wear and play than any other star wars toy I own, and I certainly have many many happy memories battling the Empire with him. His head is particularly wobbly and fragile.

The snowspeeder I received one Xmas, possibly 81? I loved it to bits and enjoyed buzzing and lighting up the guns which unfortunately no longer work. It had many swooping circuits around the living room.

The Star Destroyer is the only die cast to have survived, I found the parts of the X-wing and DV Tie but both had broken badly. Fortunately it still contained the little rebel transport. Again many happy childhood memories running from room to room with it.

Nailed it, wish I had my childhood figures!

My top five favourite pieces all have fond memories to me. All but one were acquired during the trilogy's initial run and my childhood.

1. The granddaddy of my collection. My original copy of the Star Wars novel that I bought from Woolworths in early 1978 and sparked my interest. As you can see from the photo it's been read a few times :)

2. I remember looking at the Star Wars pop-up book in Heelas in Reading in 1978 and wishing I could have it but my parents wouldn't buy it for me. Years later I finally picked up a copy which I still 'interact' with to this day :)

2.jpg

3. The Star Wars Poster Mag No. 3 was the first poster magazine I bought. I loved the poster mags. My walls were covered with these as well as others such as Screenscene and Gamester.

4. When I joined secondary school I was put into the lower stream because that's where my sister was put (70's education). I worked hard in the first term and was moved into the upper stream. As a reward my parents let me choose anything I wanted from the local toy shop (within reason of course!) and it was a no-brainer for me. I've had so much pleasure out of this Death Star Playset but have managed to keep it all together through the years.

5. My final fave is the Return of the Jedi theatrical quad poster. I got hold of it by asking the cinema manager at my local Odeon. This took a lot of guts for me because I was a very shy child :)

As a variant guy, It was really hard to choose just 5, but I have settled on these five based on sentimental value...

Im loving this thread, and nice to see some non 'action figure' pieces being included like the well thumbed copy of the Star Wars novel (I had that one too!).

Great variants but is 'White Face Leia Hoth' a proper variant or just a discoloured figure? Not one ive heard of before!

Also great to see the bootleg Darth Vader on the homemade photocopy cardback - that is rather wonderful, never seen that before, and well done to all who have taken the plunge in this thread. The rest of you stop lurking and start sharing!

Jedi_Mister, I love those choices and the reasons behind them. I just wished I'd kept some of my original items.

Thanks SublevelStudios. I'm very lucky to have all my original childhood items. Something I'll always cherish.

Some of the pieces in this thread are amazing. Looking forward to seeing more :)

No definitive answer for this I'm afraid, but I can give my opinion...

The figures head is a very different colour tone from the regular flesh face and tan face. The feel of the plastic is the same. The paint mask used is identical. The head plastic colour is not patchy nor is it degraded in any way, Just solid white. The figure as a whole does not suffer from any sort of fading or damage in any area. Interestingly the pigment in the lipstick applied is different, it is very much an orange tone rather than pink. To my eyes, It looks cool and therefore it is cool, which is good enough for it to be one of my favourite pieces :p

Well I had to think long & hard about this as my fave items do change from time to time, though I am sure we all get that, so what I really love in my collection right now are these -

My sole remaining childhood stormie, which was more than a bit modified by myself as a kid, think this will always be right at the top for me (the memories ah)
