Unknown PBP Vader Cape Variant

Hi all, I have a PBP Vader (scarred coo) with an unusual cape I'm having trouble identifying. On one side it has exactly the same texture you get on the BACK of the common "leather" cape...sort of a much finer leather-like vertical texture, with faint horizintal banding... so far so good, perfect te...

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

No luck getting a response on Echo base. Are there any experts I can contact directly? Someone out there must know what this figure is.

Re: Strange PBP Luke Bespin

As I'm currently learning from my own Poch PBP research this week!... some Poch figures combined parts from different sources and different sculpts. Looks like the boot is a slightly different colour too. I wonder if it's just because it's the wrong leg sculpt for the rest of the figure so it doesn'...

If what you’re saying is right then mixed up parts would point towards poch. You might be wise to join Echo Base Vintage Variants as you will find a lot of knowledgable poch guys on there.
Great, I’ll check it out!

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

Aaaand, now that I've spotted the leg, i've realised the whole thing is a mash up of two sculpts. Very odd indeed.

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

...ok, last random observation for the night. The more I look at this the more I spot. I'm pretty sure this vader is made from random parts. I've just spotted that one leg (the leg with the COO) is greyer than the other, and has a different texture / sculpt style. I've also read that some Poch were ...

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

The belt boxes are very weird, the buttons all seem to be completely different sizes. Again, not like this on my other vaders.

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

I have noticed the red paint is a little lighter and more orange on the chest, not sure if that's relevant.

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

I'll take it out in the sun tomorrow and compare it to my other 2 vaders. I have a different Hong Kong and a no COO, both presumably regular palitoy/kenners. The head is definitely greyer but that might be down to the rough surface. Its a different sculpt to my other vaders, but not sure if this is ...

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

Here's the COO in detail. Any chance of a quick cross check? Its not the same as the one on yours, or the one on my other HK vader.

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

Ahh, thats a shame. Seems there is a lot of conflicting info out there. I went by this site, https://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/poch/poch-variants/darth-vader/ That is the exact sculpt, features and coo (C symbol positioned just over edge of Hong Cong etc) that mine has (except No melt mark). Just to...

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

Your a variant collector I presume? Actually, no! I've only just got back into collecting after a 20 year break. Just been picking some ebay bits up and noticed this vader looked very odd compared to the other 2 I have. I'm literally just buying lots and moving the bits I don't want on until I have...

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

Interesting that the book seems to show a different chest box with wider coin slots though... mine doesn't have that. Might need to do some more digging.

Re: Is this ugly chap a Poch vader?

Thats great! Looks like mine probably is then. Not that exciting as they aren't super valuable, and mine has a vinyl cape not rugose (which makes me think supplied to Palitoy) but the limbs are fairly tight so a good example (apparently Pochs go floppy like crazy).
