Re: Y-Wing box restoration - before and after!

Cazza you can pick up card at a local hobby / craft shop otherwise I found the panels from packing boxes from John Lewis were plain brown 2 to 2.5mm and colour blended nicely. You need to make sure when you're cutting that you allow for a) the folds of the box once refolded (I left a 2mm gap either...

Re: Y-Wing box restoration - before and after!

HI Mini99 I used a 2.5mm corrugated card - near colour match to original box (you'll never see it so up to you). Corrugated gives a bit more flexibility but you could use a thinner, denser card. I don't think its necessary to use a Ph neutral card as the risk of yellowing through the card over time ...

Re: Y-Wing box restoration - before and after!

Thanks everyone, you're right I should do a step by step guide... I used to work in a professional art gallery which taught me a few restoration tips. Maybe I should take commissions in return for bits and bobs missing from my collection! Let me summarise a week's worth of Y-wing lockdown night shif...

Y-Wing box restoration - before and after!

Hi everyone, just thought I'd share the before and after pics from a pretty beaten up Y-Wing box I picked up recently... you name it, it had it - dry yellow sellotape, creasing, bashed corners, split cardboard... quite pleased with the results, just good old fashioned book restoration techniques and...

Re: Next Vectis Auction?

I agree for me its about the communication, not the wait... Just wondering what the guy who spent £8.5k on the 2-1B is thinking right now... Or maybe they sent his first!

Besides, my sister-in-law in the US just found me a Dianoga today so I'm chuffed to see that on its way...

RotJ cut out mask book - 1983 Hachette

Hi all Has anyone come across one of these before? I bought it in France in the early 80s on a family camping holiday! All the masks are complete but popped out. The Vader chest panel is missing. There's a good run down of it here but I haven't seen any for sale... https://thevintagetoyadvertiser.or...

Re: Next Vectis Auction?

From SAS on 27 May yes still waiting... I emailed them again today - last response was "I am unable to give an estimated despatch date of your parcel but will get it sent out as soon as we can"... hardly great customer service, even in lockdown...

Re: Deoid factory droids - figures or not?

Thanks everyone you're right it's up to each of us - I like the idea of having every figure whether in the full run, part of a playset or anything else so I'll def include blue snaggletooth, dianoga, 3 legs R2, both carbonite hans, plus jabba, salacious crumb and the rest of the beasts. Still think ...

Deoid factory droids - figures or not?

Hi everyone, Interested to get your views on whether the four droids from the droid factory could be considered figures or not - mechano, tracto, quad-pod and rollarc. Of course there's the monster droid and the 5 other variations, not to mention r2d2 3 legs which I'd include as a figure. I haven't ...

Starfire UK Ltd flashing eyes badge RotJ

Hi everyone, I found my old RotJ flashing eyes Gamorrean Guard badge during lockdown - not sure if circuitry still works but it used to - I'll check when I can get the right battery. I've seen it in a posting from 2011: https://mightyjabba.com/2011/05/17/vint ... k-ltd/amp/ And most recently on ebay...
