Re: Latest Acquisitions

This arrived today, as you probably saw in the Vectis thread I missed out on the Palitoy 45C Luke X-Wing earlier this week (OK at that price I wasn't even in the game  ) If that's the going rate for one with a cracked and lifting bubble now, I'll just have to settle for a cardback. I might try ...

ROTJ Luke X-Wing open card and bubble or bubble

I am looking for a bubble to make a reseal for a Luke X-Wing. It must be from a ROTJ card, but the country shouldn't matter. Preferably wih at least a bit of the cardback attached. Please let me know if you have one :)

OT: It's not everyday you discover a prototype in your collection

First of all, apologies for posting this in the vintage forum (hence the 'OT label) but I thought this story deserved it, the period is right (late 70s/early 80s), and if this WAS a Star Wars toy it would be the thing of dreams for most collectors! When my grandad died in 2010, I inherited his Hornb...

Re: Next Vectis Auction?

So are you suggesting collectors don’t bid on Auctions just to keep prices down? You're right, that certainly isn't either practical or going to happen. I guess what I'd like is for people to use their common sense and think of others before burning wads of cash (difficult to expect, I know.) I hav...

Re: Next Vectis Auction?

I've seen some heated debate over the prices in Facebook groups, no doubt both from people who missed out on things they really wanted but were blown out the water (like me  ) and those who spent too much defending their actions. My concern isn't people spending their own money on items they re...

Re: Next Vectis Auction?

I thought £1700 for the 45C Luke X-Wing was absolutely crazy, admittedly I haven't seen one for sale recently but to me that is a sub £500 MOC, there are plenty out there. There must have been two people desperate for it. That was the only thing I was after, but sounds like nearly everything went fo...

Re: Lando trilogo bubble?

Yes looks good to me too. The waffle pattern isn't really a reliable way of spotting reseals alone as it is not present on many different cards throughout the line.

Re: Help: Stormtrooper 41 back fake or not

Welcome to the forum!

Looks fine to me, several good signs - old dried tape inside bubble, yellowing around edge, card is definitely authentic. There's not always a waffle pattern.

Re: Grab a random piece the tell the story

Great story edd and great that you got it back :D . I think I remember the story, was it not something about a friend of your brother or something like that, that had stolen the items ? Did you get any of the other star wars items and the computers back ? The things you did not get back, have they ...

Re: Grab a random piece the tell the story

To spend £100 when your 14 on a MOC is dedication. Yes I had a reasonable collection of MOCs at the time (30ish) but the vast majority were trilogo and Jedi cards that cost me £10-30 each. So this one was a big step, and the only Star Wars card I owned until after the millennium. I also stuck to a ...

Re: Grab a random piece the tell the story

Got to be this one for me (sorry it's packed away so using an old photo.) Bought in around 1995 from a local toy dealer in Poole, Dorset. Luke X-Wing or "Orange Luke" was my favourite figure as a kid, so getting one on a Kenner SW card was one of my very first collecting goals. It cost £100 and aged...

WTB: POTF 2 Tatooine Skiff

I'm looking for a Tatooine Skiff for my son to play with, I can only find boxed/sealed ones on eBay. Does anyone have a beater lying around? Missing parts, damage etc fine :)

WTB: Jabba and Speeder Bike beaters

I hate "I want to buy toys for my kids" posts as much as the next person, it usually feels like a scam to get things cheaper! But I am genuinely wanting to buy the following for my boy who has recently got in to Star Wars from reading some of the books: Jabba the Hutt - I just need the figure and th...
