Re: Latest Acquisition

Well it has certainly been a crazy year for all of us what with COVID-19, lockdown and furlough etc :!: It has also been a crazy one for me regarding vintage SW as yesterday I received the last MOC I have been missing for a long time to complete the Palitoy full historic production run of Luke Skyw...

Re: Retro Gaming For Sale

On the off chance anybody here is interested, I'm selling a Japanese Sega Saturn which has a 'Phoebe' card fitted which means you can play games from SD card. I'm looking for £250 for it, which sounds like a lot but the Phoebe card alone costs £125, and then the boxed console on top plus the time it...

Re: Y-Wing box restoration - before and after!

Looks great. It's a touchy subject with collectors, many are against restoring using techniques like ink touch ups, however looking at the original state of it I don't think anybody could argue you haven't saved it.

Re: Found an old photo with some vintage SW

I have also now removed that 'joke' thread which contained several inapproproate posts. As Weasel says it was 11 years ago and with over half a million posts on this forum I obviously can't read or remember all of them, but please be rest assured that any hateful posts brought to our attention will ...

Re: Found an old photo with some vintage SW

Sorry guys I must admit after being alerted to the direction this thread was going in I was out with my boys and only took a quick glance without reading the full thread, and I advised the mods to "clean it up." By that I was in no way condoning any racism, and I hope you all know it's not something...

Re: Competition Etiquette

Well Mike's question sums it up perfectly - would you still collect these if they were worthless, or even worse they were expensive to buy but then the bottom fell out of the market? If not, you're an investor and not a collector.

Re: Competition Etiquette

At the moment and since 2008, investing in vintage Star Wars is way better than leaving your money in the bank. Interest rates have been so low for so long. How many members on here could make a good living if they were given £50,000 to spend and sell on vintage Star Wars? Exactly. It's something I...

Re: Competition Etiquette

Just for clarity if buyers collude to not bid against each other at an auction to keep the price down is this acceptable to the collecting community? I think as Mike says, it depends on the circumstances. Would I want a long-time collector to get a good price for their collection when selling? Yes ...

Re: Competition Etiquette

Just about every other investment vehicle makes more sense than vintage star wars I'm not sure I agree. Take property for example - a good return yield is considered to be 5% per year. A similar return is considered good for pensions, and low-risk stocks and shares. If you know what you're doing an...

Re: Competition Etiquette

That's an intersting take on it and a valid point, but for me personally one of the best ways of serving the collecting community is keeping prices down so it is accessible to everyone. This shouldn't be a rich man's play thing like exotic cars, masters paintings or vintage watches, they're damned t...
