Re: bleaching for restoration - good or bad idea?

For years museums have been cleaning and restoring masterpieces so we can see them as close as possible to what they were like when first painted. This can actually make them look a bit cheap as the colours are so vibrant they don't look old anymore... So that's another way of looking at it I suppos...

Re: bleaching for restoration - good or bad idea?

I've done the retrobrite thang on a few old beat up figures. I couldn't get it to work until I stumbled upon this stuff: http://www.boots.com/en/Jerome-Russell-B-Blonde-Cream-Peroxide-for-Medium-to-Dark-Brown-Hair-75ml_1110807/?cm_mmc=pla-_-google-_-PLAs-_-Boots+Shopping+-+Category+-+Toiletries This...

Re: http://www.toyswereyours.co.uk/

A couple of years ago I bought a tie fight window from them. The one pictured look new, no yellowing, the one I got had been pissed on... Good service though, I thought the price was ok.

I just had another look at the site and I don't remember all the repro stuff back then.

Re: Playground Urban Myths

Ha! When I was at school the was a kid who had been on holiday to the US and said he had got a Star Destroyer - not the existing toy, a new one for Jedi. He always would boast about it saying it could fit his 20 Stormtroopers inside - massive, the size of a table... He said. This was the same kid (a...

Re: O/T Star Wars Battlefront

So far I've held off from getting a "next-gen" console - the PS3 is still going strong... But SW Battlefront might change that. It looks pretty good, but very scripted considering it's the multiplayer they were showing off. EDIT- looks like there's a Horde mode and a "Battles" mode where you just te...

Re: Am i alone-TPM?

They're three of the worst films ever made. I don't think George Lucas realised what worked about the original trilogy. Certainly in Star Wars you get the feeling Harrison Ford isn't taking the whole thing too seriously so he's having fun with it, as are the rest of the cast - which we relate to and...

Re: New forum software and design

I'm sorry but I don't like it. On an ipad I only get one or two posts before having to scroll, everything seems too big. It makes scanning through the topic lists a pain, and for some reason it's difficult to follow. Also, avatars should go back to the left - just my opinion, hope you don't mind. Ob...

Re: Romford Vintage Sci-Fi shop in the 90's

I went to Romford market in the late 90's and got some transformers. I remember a woman sold them to me and she was very knowledgable about them. They had a Return of the Jedi arcade cabinet standing next to the entrance that I had a credit on. It was more of a transformers place rather than Star Wa...

Re: Cheap Ass Vintage Star Wars Toy Stories...

I remember a few things. Around the time of Jedi I'd go to the beach with a mate and we would dig down to wet sand and make a small tunnel that you could fit your hand through. We'd fill it up with dry sand and stand Star Wars figures in it. At the other end of the tunnel you could dig out the dry s...

Re: alfies antiques in the 90s? was it TONI?

Yeah, that's the guy. He had a kind of 70's haircut, longish with a fringe. Seemed like a bit of a geezer. I didn't know he had stuff in Brighton, next time I'm down there I'll say hello.

Re: alfies antiques in the 90s? was it TONI?

I have no idea if this guy was Toni or not, but it used to go to Alfie's and trade stuff with him. I remember one time I had a bunch of loose figures, two of which were Hoth Stormtroopers. When he saw then he said "Oh no, I've got more of them than Darth Vader!" I thought it was pretty funny... He d...
