Hi all,

My step-father has recently taken a trip into the loft and found a 1977 Darth Vader, with a vinyl cape and the original orange lightsaber.

I've looked online, and have found several wildly different valuations, mainly from $1500-$6000, which of course is a crazy difference. I realize this may be dependant on condition too, but I'd like some valuations from you fellas if possible.

I've attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure, hope to get some valuations from you all.

It's a nice one, but sorry to disappoint you, it's not worth anywhere near even the lower end of your scale. It's worth about $20.

You've no doubt read one of the stupid articles online that fail to list minor details like they are only worth $1000+ if boxed or have the ultra-rare double telescoping sabre (yours is the very common single telescoping version.)

As said it's a very nice piece, but no retirement fund I'm afraid :)

Here's a good comparison with yours, similar good condition:

Ah, that's unfortunate. We had compared it with images of the "double-telescoping" one and it seemed identical. Big shame. :(

Thanks for your great advice

Your not the first to do that. It gets confusing as the standard one like yours is known as a telescoping sabre and the rare as hens teeth known as the double telescoping.

But it's still a nice figure and looks to be in nice tidy condition. Why not keep him. It could be the start of something great ;)
