as I was wondering if anyone has bought a box set and wanted to know which was the best one to get.

My auld fella loves Sharpe, I've bought him a few box sets over the years, unfortunately I have no idea which one is best.
You can pick them up pretty cheaply, I think HMV had them on special a few weeks ago.

Sharpe has got to be THE VERY BEST period drama i have ever watched!! Great story lines and great action. £30 for the box set seems very reasonable. I paid £9.99 for 2 episodes on dvd when they first came out LOL...

What confuses me is that Play.com have two versions and there seems to be nearly 10 hours difference in playtime :?

Unless I'm just reading it wrong

There are 16 episodes in total at an average of 90 to a 100 minutes per episode. That's roughly 24 to 27 hours. Anything over this in runtime is extras ie bonus material like behind the scenes and the making of etc.. The original run started in 1993 with Sharpes rifles and ended in 1997 with Sharpes Waterloo. Two new episodes were made in 2006 and 2008 Challenge and Peril. If you are just interested in the episodes look for a set that starts with Rifles and ends with Sharpes Peril. I have had a look on Play and it is confusing i think that they must have made a mistake :?: The £30 set only runs for 16 odd hours Hmmm....

Looking on zavvi and Hmv they have copied each others description and say that the set contains 15 episodes when if you count them its 14  So the £30 set gets you the first 14 episodes then you just need the last 2. Phewww...

In that link it shows the boxset and the 2 final episodes. I hope this is of some help to ya... :D
