What is a bank holiday?
The reason I'm asking is because this weekend we have something called pinse,
I think the english equivalent is White Sunday/Whitsunday/pentecoste?
And everything is normally closed on monday including the banks, which unfortunately
will delay my planned payments for one day, apologies to the ones I owe payment to,
I'm not good at keeping track of holidays in general. :p
I believe this weekend is a bank holiday in the UK, is it the same in the US?

Cheers

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend here in the States. No work for most on Monday as an observed holiday. All government offices are shut down and no banks are open. My weekend is full of beers, Brats and Burgers. :D

for me, a bank holiday means **** all! i work for a german company who don't recognise them. i will be working as normal  . otherwise they are just one-off public holidays. most shop's, if open at all, operate sunday trading hours.

I worked for the Germans for a while.....to put it short...they have a high dedication to work and thier company. Family and personal business all take a 2nd seat.
