Just wondered if anyone on here from the UK has the collection insured?

I am looking around at the moment. Even though my collection is generally covered by my contents insurance i want to ensure i am fully protected. I have found a couple of companies that specialise in this area of insurance and i am waiting for quotes to come back.

Can anyone here reccommend a good insurer with a good policy.

Thanks
Steve

I think as long as you have receipts for purchases, and they are not above the single item value limit on your house contents then you are ok.

I keep all my paypal invoices to prove value in case its disputed. Normal home insurance should cover it, but you are best getting written confirmation from your insurer to cover your back.

I've just started investigating this (in Australia). It looks like it's either easy (ie just keep receipts & your normal insurance covers you), or a nightmare (ie you have to get every item valued by a recognized 'official expert' (of which there are none in Australia). Depends on your insurer. I may have to change mine.

I have found one insurance compnay here in the UK that allows you to have block insurance without the need for receipts as long as no individual item is valued at over £500. For those items you take out another policy but have to have the item valued etc etc.

I think you have to buy the insurance as a block of £5000 and it is no quibble insurance.

I will wait to see what the cost is when they reply to my request and toake it from there.

In the UK I had mine under general contents insurance. I was told that as long as I had proof of ownership and value then it would be covered. I just PDF'd and kept all paypal receipts. Now I'm now longer in the UK I'm back to square one on this though...
