After a bit of discussion in another thread about vintage games it got me thinking about my favourite game box art, there are many more that I love as equally as the following 4 below but am sticking to these as they came to mind first. I used to love sitting there waiting for a game to load on my C64 and spent a lot of that time admiring the box art, I used to love how they were painted and with me being quite artistic I used to scan all the little fine details. I used to imagine what scenarios could have been playing out in the art images and what might have happened next, which made for some fun and weird thought processes as a kid.

Feel free to share your own favourite vintage/retro box art, these are all from what I had on the C64...

Good topic, a few of mine...

I also like the cover art for "Barbarian" but all the guys in my school did too (surprise surprise).

Great box art, I always did love the Shadow of The Beast art, never seen the Jet Set Willy before. And yes Barbarian that was a good one too that always sticks in my mind.

All the ones Crumm listed plus these few, oh there are so many classics

Sweet, never seen that Ghosts n Goblins cover before, there must be several different ones.

I used to love the 'Turbo' Outrun version of that game too.

Love it. Some amazing memories

Ghouls n' Ghosts on the C64 was epic. One of the hardest games to complete

It was solid as **** but yeah it was proper fun too because of the challenge, I remember luckily getting about half way into the map the one day, and then never managed to get back there again.

Yep, there were some tough games back then, very unforgiving some of them.

Taught us young un's a thing or two about patience, persistence and swearing

Almost forgot this one below, very 80's (although i'm not sure maces were in such widespread use in the 80's). Love the "Joystick operated" quote in the bottom corner.

Yep loved Outrun and Monkey Island. These were cool too:
- Citadel (Loved the Citadel artwork. Always reminded me of the Jawas)
- Golden Axe
- Street Fighter II
- Speed Ball II
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City

How on earth did they get away with the cover art of "Golden Axe"?

Well... it was the end of the 80s!

Renegade!!!, a game I could never ever get to load for some reason and I was desperate to play it, it became a bit of a myth to me as one day my big bro came to pick me up from a boys club and all the way home told me about how he got the game to work and told me all about what the game was like and I was amazed, and then it still never worked for me. .. loved that artwork I used to sit there for hours in total staring at it whilst trying to load the game.

Citadel is very Star Wars, I wonder where the artist got inspiration from? :?
