As book month continues, extra special guest, Stephen J. Sansweet, join Stuart and Dan to delve into the many books he has written.
Head of Fans Relations at Lucas Film for 15 years, Stephen was author or co-author of 18 books, 16 of which were Star Wars books. From Concept To Screen To Collectible was the catalyst book for the Star Wars collecting hobby and impacted everyone who purchased it back in 1992. Since then he has released action figure guides, poster books, encyclopedias, vaults, price guides, scrapbooks and quote books. And take it from us, every one of them is a must in any Star Wars library.
We discuss the impact of both From Concept To Screen To Collectible and The Tomart's Guide in depth as well as looking at Stephens other literary works.
This is a fascinating insight into a pioneer of our much loved hobby and a must listen interview.
The team continue on their look at books this month, this time delving into Collecting guides.
There are so many Collecting Guides out there, from outdated price guides and encyclopedias through to specific topics and design books, there really is something for everyone that collects.
The lads look at what makes a good collecting guide, discuss some of the stand out authors in this realm and then they all bring three collecting books to the table that either made an impact on them through the years or basically just their favourite collecting book.
As a busy book month for the Generation Skywalker team draws to a close, the lads get together to discuss their highlights from an action packed month. They delve into their favourite moments and shows, whilst revealing that it has whet all their appetites as their love of the books is reignited.
Craig also takes us through the 'confronting covers' competition which has been running over our social media during the entire month of September, revealing the winning book art. We also hear why each member made the choices they made, and the winner of our big book bundle competition is revealed, is it you?
Modern collectors will have been foaming out the month the last couple of weeks with the constant announcement of modern collectibles. And it's made our show jam packed with the latest toy news.
We delve into the amazing Haslab project, the Razor Crest, and what a stunning project it is. We look at all The Vintage Collection and Black Series releases, including Mark's favourite Holiday special figures. We discuss Hot Toys, Funko Pops, Force FX Lightsabers, Polaroid cameras and the amazing Regal Robot Rancor Statue. Mark also declares his love for the Lego the Child.
With certain items in hand the team can give their opinions of their latest purchases as we look at the Lego Cantina, Black Series Endor Heroes Set, Black Series Armorer and the latest Wampa release.
Dan then takes us through his love of Steel Books in reference to his blog post on the subject over at www.generationskywalker.com, a fascinating subject.
The boys also choose their favourite Chewbacca action figure through the ages, however, the love of Chewie action figures had a lot to be desired and for one team member the love of Chewie himself!
The latest episode of 'Those Old Fossils' lands and what could be more fitting than a Halloween Special for Halloween.
Thinking about Halloween and scary stories... there’s an element of Star Wars that always puts Craig in mind of the famous HG Wells book (and subsequent movies adaptations) ‘The Island of Doctor Moreau’.
Written in 1896 its a very early science fiction horror story telling the tale of Edward Prendick who is shipwrecked, rescued by a passing boat and is left on the island home of Doctor Moreau, a mad scientist who creates human-like hybrid beings by experimenting on humans and animals.
But how does all that relate to Star Wars? Craig is thinking, of course, of George Lucas’s fascination in creating alien races by taking earth-bound animals and turning them into human-like beasts.
So looking at things in that (rather grim) context Craig thought it would be a bit of Halloween fun to explore this while reimagining Lucas as a mad scientist surrounded by his creations.
Hover Pram. That's the word of the month on 'The Modern Way'. Stuart, Craig, Mark and Dan are joined by founding Generation Skywalker member Grant Criddle as we welcome him back to hosting duties.
It's a Mandalorian and The Phantom Menace feast this month as the team delve into the latest update on the Haslab razor Crest, The Mandalorian Retro Collection line and many other announcements, majority of which surround the Mando.
The team then take a trip down memory lane as they celebrate The Phantom Menace trailer which was released 22 years ago this month, before reminiscing about the hype on the build up to the film as they talk early Episode One toy memories as well as delving into the Midnight Madness event.
All this plus the usual smatterings of toy indulgence.
Generation Skywalker kick off their festive schedule with a helpful guide for parents and partners, on buying those all important Star Wars presents.
Stuart, Craig, Dan and Mark, give you suggestions on items that are readily available this Christmas, where you can purchase them and what you'll expect to pay, and they've broken the guide down to five age ranges - Pre-school (up to 5), Primary (6-10), Teenage/Secondary (11-16) and Adult (17+).
They also look at the more creative gifts too as they delve into small independent businesses and there offerings, some of these items are beautiful and different, there really is something for everyone in our Christmas guide.
What goes in hand with Star Wars, it's beer of course, and we welcome you to join us for the first ever Generation Skywalker Beer Show.
Stuart, Craig, Jez, Dan and Mark are joined by Kimberley Owen, a trainee beer sommelier, who takes us through a beer tasting of 5 Star Wars beers from Moor Beer, Tiny rebel, Brew York and Original Stormtrooper breweries. Kimberley really knows her stuff as she takes the boys out of their comfort zones as she teaches them how to appreciate what they are drinking.
Craig takes us through his latest blog post over on www.generationskywalker.com, where he looks at the drinking culture on screen from the movies, TV shows and Expanded Universe, before taking us on a Star Wars beer trip looking at beers based on the franchise from independent breweries.
We also look at drinking vessels, bottle openers, ways of keeping your beer cool and other Star Wars beer merch during this tasting delight.
