Hello All
I am new to collecting and have sadly acquired some repro figures. I'm now a bit worried
About the attached as I've been told boxes can be repro … oh no. Could anyone advise if this is ok and also where to look for a sign of repro?
Thanks and sorry if posting in wrong place
John

That looks fine imo, signs of age, old tape etc but I don't know how sophisticated repro boxes are these days

I dont think you can rely on there always being an "R" or any sort of marking to indicate a repro box or item. Your safest bet is to buy from trusted sellers, at least whilst you're finding your feet in the hobby. Either in the sales posts on here or on some of the large facebook groups.

Thanks so much and great advise. For a novice like me would there be anyway to look at this Palitoy box and even if It does not have an R tell if it is a repro?. Thnx so much

It's real. I doubt whether Darren Orme would ever bother with the attached inner packaging for this one.

In general, repro boxes will have crappy cardboard and won't have that old smell real ones have.

Need better pics really of that Falcon box, it's quite a common box though so doubt it's something that people would go out of their way to replicate so it's probably ok

As others have said the genuine vintage ones have a certain feel and smell to them, i've not personally ever seen a repro one in person but I saw a seller at Sandown toy fair selling Action Man replica boxes and they obviously look really new and undamaged with no edgewear etc

Nowadays though I wouldn't put it past untrustworthy people to purposely "age up" a replica box to make it look old, best to get a few genuine vintage ones in your hands so you can familiarise yourself with how they should feel

Also look for boxes with old toy shop price stickers on which will indicate they are vintage, but again i'm sure there are dodgy people out there who would put an old sticker on a new box to rip people off

Just glad I bought all my boxed stuff years ago, only need about another 7 or 8 boxed items, must be annoying if you're just starting out to navigate through all the repro crap.
