any ideas how i get this off his face?

so far ive tried 5 different things, an alchohol based marker pen remover, mr muscle, an orange flavoured label and sticky remover.

and nothing has even made a dent!

help???

Wow!!...The problem with marker is that over time it seeps into the plastic and is stuck there. Maybe wrap his head in a bleach soaked napkin....or use a fine grit sandpaper and gently sand it off.

Yeah not much you can do about ink in plastic like that, once it's in that's it!

You could just call him the pikey fairground gypsy freak variant? :)

you could try the retrobright peroxide trick. that might work? maybe just submerge his head in it and see how it goes. the peroxide should work its way into the plastic like the ink and might start to break it down

peroxide does not work for ink, i tried.

You can try nail polish remover, but be aware, it also alters (melts) the plastic

thanks guys, i'll give the nail varnish remover when i get home tonight.

it looks like purple felt tip thats burnt into it since the 80s, i dont have much hope and may have to go down the fine sandpaper route :(

That to me looks like a biro that has over the years worked its way into the plastic. I would imagine its no longer a surface mark but has penetrated the plastic and been absorbed into the figure.
I don't honestly think you're going to get that off.

There is a Stain Devil that you can get specifically for Biro that may be worth a go. But that pen is probably 25+ years old now

:( :( :(

spot on pigcity, it really does look like its been absorbed into the plastic, i have a feeling its going to be a tricky time with the fine sandpaper depending on how deep its soaked into the plastic. :(

i will post the results once its done but it may take a while.

Hmmm a gangsta yak-face, did you buy this off lil Wayne's collection

Seriously thou good luck to you. Hope you can get it off. It's a damn shame what some kids/grown folks (yes even grown folks  ) do to vintage figs.

You could try Jolen Creme Bleach. It's for ladies who bleach dark hairs (moustaches  ). It mixes into a paste so you can brush it onto single areas. I tried it on dirty grout and it worked a treat. Failing that i bought hydrogen peroxide from the chemist and submerged a yellowed 12 inch stormtrooper in it for about three weeks. Came up sparkling white again and didn't damage the paint. That works with any yellowed figures and it's a piece of piss. Just a bit time consuming with the long wait.

Let's face it, you can't make your Yak any worse. I would avoid thinners or basically anything with which you could get high from the fumes. Invariably those things are damaging to plastics. Hydrogen Peroxide is fine

sand paper him as a last resort or use some similar colour model paint and paint over it! hope you didnt pay too much for it

Can't believe people are saying use sandpaper on a figure, especially when people were agog when I said I was using a pen-knife to remove glue from a Tie Fighter!

As other posters have said it has seemed into the plastic - or so it seems.

My Chemistry knowledge is piss poor but I'd say dip the fella in booiling water for about a minute then take him ot and use some cleaning products on him - certainly won't be any worse than sanding away parts of his face!

i cant seem to make a dent on this guy, nothing has worked and i even tried sanding a small part which went nowhere????

im putting him up for sale or swap, this could be a little bit of a project for someone who knows a bit more about these things, thanks for the advice anyways guys :)
