Is it worth spending £27 on Yak Face Weapon?

Hi again all.

As you may know, I am a relative newbie to this lark. Starting with a limited budget to hopefully get a half decent collection going.

I spotted a job lot on ebay earlier in the week that had a Yak Face in there, the guy didn't know what he had and did a deal and bought the lot of 30 figures for £180 (My budget to start my collection is £200).

Now, I am interested in carded figures, and Yak Face seems like a top end rare loose figure that I just wouldn't get the enjoyment out of compared to getting some MOCs. SO am treating this as a catalyst to get some additional budget for MOCs.

The question is; there is a £27 weapon on ebay, which if I bought would increase my investment to £200. Given that I am going to sell the Yak, plus the other figures to make a profit to spend on carded figures (Most likely on here as people are friendly, and the prices to me seem more reasonable to eBay)

Yaks seem to go for about £150, so is it worth investing the £27 for the weapon, and therefore likely to achieve more than £177?

Nothing special in the other figures, so will probably push back onto eBay in lots of ewoks, bounty hunters, droids etc.

Be wary of repro weapons and also repro Yak faces. There are a lot of them about, and they might be pretty tough to spot from a grainy pic. Isn't Yak face's staff just the same one Nikto has? Maybe worth seeing if one of those figures comes up as I imagine it might be cheaper?

Most Yak Faces in circulation right now were probably never packed with a weapon anyway. However as the POTF Yak was packed with a Vibro Axe then that is the one people pair it with. The same weapon was also packed with Barada and Nikto and there is no difference

So 27GBP is a shocking price. It is a 10GBP weapon tops - and to be honest if you are patient then you can still pick up a complete Nitko for 10-12GBP

You see them quite often for £5/6 plus postage so £10 would be the absolute max to pay including postage imo

TBH I'd wouldn't have bothered with the weapon, leave him as is. You did well to land that lot for £180, if it's the same lot I saw...

No it certainly is not worth it. And besides, Yak Face came in 3 different ways; 1) With a Nikto Staff on the Power of the Force Coin Card; 2) With a Lando General / Luke Poncho's Black blaster on the French Tri-Logo card; 3) With no weapon at all on the standard Tri-Logo card. Oh, and there are also a few very rare errors / miscards where other weapons have been found such as a gaderffi stick.

So technically, a weapon isn't actually necessary with Yak face as it is 'complete' with or without one.

Actually it is incredible how many Nikto figures on eBay no longer have their staff and most of the ones that do are repro.

Worth checking out this Imperial Gunnery page to ensure you're not getting a repro because there seem to be a lot out there for this particular weapon.
