Im sure you guys will have seen the vintage Palitoy poster currently on Ebay,if not search for it  Ive seen two of these ever, and its as rare as hen's teeth. The last one that i saw was in the collection of RS member, and is seriously, seriously rare.

Got a funny feeling this will go sky high if sold. This could be a great candidate for a limited re-print

According to this you have Jason. ;)

Here's a cool one too. Half way down the page

And my response was almost the same too.

Me memory is failing with age.

Who are you?

It's a great poster but I thought we weren't supposed out live auctions? It seems whenever there's an interesting Palitoy auction it gets outed. I know there's a few fair few of us who probably do a star wars palitoy search on ebay every day (or hour  ), but from looking at the responses from this thread it shows that not everyone spots everything.

Don't get me wrong and think that it's something I'm going for (even though it's a fantastic piece I knew straight away that it was going to go for top dollar), but putting these listings up could upset interested parties. I even contacted the seller as soon as his listing came up to let him know that he had a rare poster and if I was him I'd let the auction run and not accept an offer. I would hate to see something like this go for cheap just to see it flipped the next week for a small fortune. As a side note the seller said that he's selling this for his uncle who used to work in a toy shop as a boy and was allowed to take the poster home once the shop had finished with it, nice bit of history about it I thought.

Please don't flame me for my post as I just want to know how people feel about outing live auctions like this. Sometimes it maybe better to mention auctions once they've ended as anyone of us could be the one really trying for an item and then suddenly everyone's alerted to it.

Nice one, I did notice that the auction almost doubled since this post which might be a coincidence but probably would be a good idea to leave these auctions until they end in the future.

Still, all good for the seller and I know there's going to be a happy collector out there who ends up with it (well maybe not so happy with the price but we'll see where it ends).

Not quite sure why these auctions cannot be outed...

I think thats a cool poster.. would love a scan of it, or I might have a go at 'repro'ducing it for my own amusement, using my own battered original figs.

some people find these listings and want to try and get the best price for it, by outing it, it bumps the competition and price, its generally best to show people after the auction ends.

i have no real issue with outing auctions but if its affecting potential buying price its fair not to show it around.

imagine you found a rare item that was listed incorrectly, like a VC jawa just listed as jawa, then someone outs the auction on here and it jumps from £20 to £220+ its a bit gutting :)

I understand that.. but surely everybody uses that site that I shan't mention that searches for mis placed ebay listings anyway, no?

I guess as an ebay seller (of non star wars) I have the mentality of wanting a widest audience.. and forget.

No. Definitely not. Most people don't bother searching for these kind of things. Hell most people on here probably won't bother searching ebay at all on a given day so when something like this is outed the interest could go from 6 or 7 people to 70-80 people just like that and the items gains a level of interest it never would have done without said post.

Forums like this one are great if you are selling star wars items on ebay and want to put a cheeky link to your sales although it's going to be frowned upon if you're not a regular and are just using this forum to promote your sales, leave that to trade it or ebay, that's what they're for.

I must admit I've hardly ever found those hidden gems out there as I don't tend to spend vast amounts of time trying different searches but now and then things do turn up. It's one thing if you're the seller looking to reach the most people and another if you're looking for a bargain (or just trying to find something at the price it probably should be).

The only reason I mentioned outing this auction earlier is that I know I've read on here that live auctions should be left alone and I've noticed recently that this hasn't been happening, particularly with Palitoy items for some reason. It didn't seem like Jason, who is Mr Palitoy after all, hadn't even noticed this poster so it shows that this do slip through the net.

We have no outing rules on here. I will agree that this item may have gone unnoticed by some. I found it prior to this thread, but I search ebay for key terms daily. It is awesome peiece and rarely seen....now it should go for a nice chunk of cash.

I thought there was a no outing live auctions rule? I'll take everything I said back if that's the case but I always thought there was.

The poster does have some similarities to the B&W version that appeared in the Star Wars Weekly Comic...

RS has that rule, we do not. Common sense should previal when posting links.

I agree about not outing live auctions. It would be a pisser to find a badly worded add or something odd ball only to have it posted on the forum.

This ain't like certain other forums though. I'm not aware of a 'rule book' as such and people certainly aren't beaten with said rule book everytime they step out of line. Like Todd said, just common sense. Discussion generally puts across what people want and don't want.
