Vectis Auction....what a disappointment

So I was a lucky bidder on the craig stevens auction of the 28th Jan. At least at the time I thought I was. I wanted to post something on here just to say how disappointed I am with level of service I have received. I won and paid on the same day and as of yet no item. I phoned up last week and was told it could be a further fours weeks due to a Christmas back log! Has anybody else won and item and not received it? I think the whole things is a total farce, very quick to send me an invoice and take my money and then nothing. Its not like they didn't do ok out of the sales. I'm not an established forum member and I dont know Craig from Adam but can anyone ping him a message, perhaps he can have a word. It was all quite fun at the time but frankly now I just want my money back.

Quite ironic, I believe Craig lives about seven miles from me, could have given him cash on the table. Shame really, perfectly good spot for buying and selling items right here and I've never waited for an item for a month off here.

Nothing more annoying than a seller quick to withdraw your cash from their Paypal account, and then spends weeks withholding your item... I'm a big believer in instant payment, next day postage! I had one of the best excuses to why it had taken a seller over three weeks to post my item, 'I had a car crash while driving to the post office and I've only just came out of hospital.' I may have believed it, if it wasn't for the fact he was still buying items on eBay during those three weeks. I sure hope you get it all resolved soon buddy...

I also got a MOC in this auction. My payment was taken on the day of the auction and I contacted them promptly to ask about shipping fees and delivery etc. I was curtly told the shipping team were too busy to talk to me and they would be in touch. They didn't get in touch... I emailed them another week later and they replied to say my item was waiting to be packed, they then took postage payment and delivered a few days later (this Friday).

Over two weeks to send out a single MOC... I would suggest that if they aren't ready to ship, maybe don't take payment so quickly; or maybe hire a couple of extra packing team members if there is such a delay.

It seems a very poorly run system with little to no customer service involved making it very hard to talk to people who might know something about the items you have won in their auctions. At no point was I given a timescale for the delay which would have at least set my mind at rest.

I note the packaging for the MOC wasn't great either; layer upon layer around the star case (big tick), but the MOC inside the Star Case had no support or packing materials (peanuts etc) around the bubble inside it (poor show), but it was far and away the most expensive post and pack charge I've ever seen for a MOC.

Regards the item itself now it has arrived; perfect and exactly as I had expected it to be, just a shame it took so long to get to me.

thanks Jason, appreciated. Also thanks to the others than have voiced opinions, I had been sat here asking myself whether I was being unreasonable about the situation but it would appear I'm right in my frustration as others have experienced a similar level of service.

That is a disgrace. I would want my money back too. Surely there are other ways to sell items rather than give any auctioneers the rediculous fees etc. Im amazed why people still use them. Id love to know why people do.

Whats wrong with doing an auction at a convention or something similar? You could advertise it better and still appeal to all.

Seriously, are Vectis really earning their fees? I think not. Seems like another tinpot auction house to me.

I think there has to be a way of doing this, cheaper and easier.

What an unacceptable disgusting service especially when one thinks of the savage premium they scoop :!:

For that performance certainly a partial refund would b in order :!:

Interestingly the winner of the 30 back Fett had it personally delivered to his door by Vectis themselves :x
So there's Vectis policy right there, spend a fortune with us and U will get a decent delivery service. Anything under a 4 figure sum and U will b put to the back of the Q

I won something in the auction before Christmas and it took a month to arrive. They're making a fortune and won't spend anything extra to speed up the delivery process. Auction houses are the biggest rip offs ever.

Yeah I had exactly the same issue with the Christmas auction. I had to chase up mine as well.

It's bad business, if the packing team is too busy then hire a couple of temps. Not the most difficult concept to let them do the cheap items while the expert packers do the higher cost stuff.

Anyone can be a management consultant ... 8)

Shocking really. You can expect a week or two delay from some random dude on eBay who has a full time job and 3 kids running around etc but not an auction house who handle huge collections worth thousands of pounds.

I would ask for a refund if I were you!

Yep, the figure I got in the January auction only arrived with me late last week, so a good 3 weeks. They did say 21 days on the invoice, but I agree it's not really good enough.

Kathy has obiwannacollect's details now so hopefully his purchase will be getting sorted. She is in agreement that their shipping times are poor and she is going to see what Vectis can do about this.

cheers Jason

How about sorting out the fact that when an item is collected, they don't really check who the person is that's collecting it?!

Have I missed out on the opportunity of a free boba fett?

:p

They didn't even ask for a drivers Licence. I had to ask for them to specifically request to see one

Yeah I can only really echo what has already been said!

Astons arent as bad as that. Normally takes 3-4 working days! no matter how much you spend and is packaged better too IMO

I picked mine up in person last week, I was pretty shocked at how the system worked. I said I won an auction, gave them my name and after a couple of minutes someone appeared from the back room and handed it over. No requests for any ID, a description of what I'd won or anything.

The staff were friendly but the system is ripe for abuse.

On the flip side the adjacent record shop was fantastic and they offer an online discount to in-store shoppers :D
