new user and first request....

hi everyone, been collecting a few years now, altho my stuff hasnt seen light since the 1990's. Just started to collect again and get rid of any repro's and less than C8 figures i have picked up along the way.
I collect loose vintage figures, looks like a minefield for carded so i am going to avoid that route.

this is my first proper post here and im gunna list my completed figure here for the purpose of variations... im going to only have one of each figure but want to pick up the rarest of the variant for each figure if possible.

if anyone can be assed could they help me find out if any listed are the rarer of the variations or what is the rarer one?? that would help

also how do i tell what is tri logo/kenner/palitoy etc? so far i have only identified one variant.. thats a clipper vader but i think i got bummed with painted repro saber for that GRRRR..!! looks like the plastic is black underneath.

As the resident loose variant collector I'll see what I can do but it's hard to give you an answer. All figures (except the last 17) have minor variations and some have none at all. If you are avoiding Lili Ledy, Glasslite and Top Toys figures the harder ones are the PBP ones which came on "Made in Spain" cards. These figures have a moulding scar where it looks like the COO has been scooped out of the mould are probably the harder to find versions of your list. Where I have put none it means there is no "rarer" variant in my opinion but other collectors may have different views. Personally I only like variants that are noticeably different. At one time I was a COO collector but now I am starting to thin down some items and only collect what I really like. 8)

seems there are only a few variants better out there so far for me to replace these with....


i do have about another 35-40 loose figures here with no weapons with the same question.... will post once i got a bit more time to dig them out of thier dusty box

one thing tho.... i have 2 stormtroopers... one maybe be pbp hardtorso maybe???

the first one has GMFGI 1977 2ND GMFGI HONG KONG 1977


Both variants have the writing written downward on the left leg.

the 1st ones body is VERY white and the detail is very crisp with a narrow mouth piece.
the 2nd ones body is not quite so white, the detail is less crisp and the mouth piece is moulded wider.

if i tap them with my fingernail the 1st one sounds more bittle.

if i remember one i got from having a dewback but i cant remember if it was supposed to be with it.

any of these rarer that the other??

I was thinking more about COO variants when I was going through the list and I've only seen the metallic bag on HK figures which aren't rare. :wink:

Again all figures have minor variations, be it the paint of even the way they stand. The PBP version has GMFGI at the top with 1977 below it. A lot of them seem to be sold by German collectors on ebay. Some people may list a figure as a hard torso because it does look different to the standard one but it may not be a PBP unless it is being sold by a European collector. They are also prone to loose limbs due to the plastic used.

It is hard to tell the difference in photos but my PBP version is on the right and you can see the difference in detail:

it has close together legs and the mouthpiece is narrower than the other versions i seen. cool

checked my chewbacca out... he has like a metallicy olive/browny bag so i guess i could find this elusive green bag version.
