Cool, didn't even know the factory was still standing! Fancy a trip down there one weekend Mark?

If you find a link for the spot, let me know.

To my knowledge the Palitoy factory is long gone - I even looked on google maps! I would be very interested in more info.

I visited the factory year before last. It's still there. I had to check with a local who was walking his dog but yep...still there!

This is google earth 2015.

I presume the 4 long warehouse type buildings on the right of this image that are on Ashby Road are the old factory.

This is the wrong location Jason.... :( The old Palitoy factory of Coalville is on Owen Street and it still exist today.
It's a business park that houses a half dozen of small companies. The site is still known as "The Old Toy Factory"...

yes jc has the correct photo. it used to have an entrance on the owen
street side between the terrace houses. I wouldn't waste your time
or fuel going nothing to see just an old building and shed! I only went
to pick a few bits up and its only 30 mins away.

Yes, there's an entrance on Owen street through an administrative building, but the main intrance to access the factory is on Jackson street. You can see the gate at the end of the entrance road.
Palitoy closed its factory in 1985 and its warehouse closed a year later. Remember that the site was mainly a assembly/packaging facility. In 84, all the administrative and archives moved to a building in Maidenhead(demolished 3 years ago) near London.

Believe me, after 30 years, the main factory suffered a half dozen of refreshings. A lot of pilgrimages were done, not only by Star Wars nostalgic collectors but also by "Action Man", "Pippa" dolls and Rail Train collectors. There's nothing there other than old walls and memories...
It's a chance today that the factory still in place.
