As you are all aware the production of repro's has accelerated over recent years and includes parts for vehicles, play-sets, creatures, boxes and inserts. The plastic materials used and the casting quality has also become more advanced, making reproductions more difficult to detect than before. You now have to go through host of tests to identify if they are genuine.

Some of the new repro's pass the float test and more worrying can be translucent which makes it really hard to spot a fake.

As we all know the best resource for identifying original and reproduction vintage Star Wars weapons and accessories is The Imperial Gunnery (TIG) these guys are a massive help to keep your collection repro free.

The idea of this thread is to share pictures of the new wave of reproduction that is entering the market, highlighting it to fellow member and more importantly sharing our findings with TIG.

There work is never ending and they do a sterling job for the vintage Star Wars collecting community and we salute you.

Nice chris, sounds like a great idea. This is going to fast and I am also beginning to see weapons on ebay that lucky us some sellers write repro but they are not in the tig guide. So if this thread can help us with sharing info about new repro weapons that is not in the tig guide then I am ready to use this thread 8)

Good shout Chris. TIG is a massively valuable source of info but they admit themselves that the library of variant images for even the original Kenner items needs updating. It's hard to keep up to date with all the known Repro variants.

Sticking with the so called "Saltburn" Repro Chris has introduced above it can be difficult to identify because they are well made and are floating Repro.

The tell tale sign on this reproduction Imperial Blaster which you can determine from a photograph as well as in hand is the indent highlighted on the clip. No other original blaster has this indent.

Similarly with the Rebel blaster it can be identified as a Saltburn Repro, both in photographs and in hand, from the indentation on the back highlighted in the photo. The indentation is square whereas all original Rebel Blasters have a circular indent.

No original grey bespin blaster comes in that mould. The original with the same trigger guard has a fatter handle. I have tried to keep up to date acquiring reproductions as they appear, site updates take a bit longer. http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t9253-the-year-of-the-near-perfect-fakes-2017-2018#161312

Will have retro weapons to catalogue in a few months....

Thanks, I know it does not look like V1 but it can trick you if you do take your time to look at it, I think new collectors can be tricked and old
that do not know much about repro.

You do some great work

That's a tricky one, mate. They don't look painted and I am only aware of the painted repro. It's possible that there is a new moulder repro Paploo staff out there in recent months. I find that more probable than a stash of originals popping up with a bunch of beater figures like this.

I agree they also do not look painted to me and they must be repro with so many in one lot. I fear a lot of collectors can get tricked if they are really good repro staffs :(

The seller has another similar bunch of floating blasters up for sale. The usual bullshit sales patter - I think these are real, but I don't know really, so take a look at my inconclusive photos so you can decide

it's safe to say they were fakes.
