Vader cape authenticity

Hi all. Recently picked up a loose Vader with cape from a charity shop and I'm Abit stumped by the cape. I've seen my fair share of fakes and have a few genuine ones which are all the zippy textures one side and kinda smooth on the other. This one feels like a real one, nicely pliable, similar thickness, but the texture is different.

I read something somewhere about a Spanish version with a cape that looks a lot like this one. Normally with stuff I get off eBay and I have doubts, it's normally fake, but this was real grubby and screwed up buried in a box with Barbie  , so I feel it could be genuine.

Managed to clean it up nicely and straighten out the worst of it.

Many thanks.

I would have to check on my Lili Ledy Vader but this reminds me of the texture of my Lili Ledy cape.

Is there a COO on the figure?

Thanks for the reply, ill check later and get back to you. I know its got a head that is very poorly moulded, its very matte and almost blistered in its finish. Not like my other Vader's at all.

There are 3 known PBP capes. Information provided courtesy of Javi Ruilopez' excellent Star Wars Made in Spain book. It's hard to tell from your photos but perhaps you can match it to one of these based on the photos and description.

Thanks for that, I'll have a good compare and see.

Here are a couple of the figure it came with.

Looks standard family 1a Hong Kong Figure.

It's not the same family that would of been altered to make the PBP figures and therefore should not logically be paired with the PBP capes.

It is the same family and mould that would of eventually been used to make the raised bar Vader (I believe this was the so called "Dutch Clipper" figures though correct me if I'm wrong) which did have a non-zipping textured cape. However, I have not seen it associated with earlier Hong Kong figures.

I believe that some Palitoy capes are also non-zipping.

However, there are also recent textured Reproduction capes with a similar pattern to yours. I have an example of this, as well as other PBP capes and will see if I can photograph them for you this weekend.
