So this was an eBay watch at IMO quite a high price, so eventually made an offer, which the seller accepted.

This is a Quirky item and right up my street.

Wavy card which I will sort.

The quirky bit is the bubble, this to me looks like it was factory sealed askew, and got through QC out there into the big wide world, looked closely and when you lift the bubble on the unsealed area, the litho tear all lines up, so I'm thinking this was its original state.
Original rifle still taped.

I think with a little time and patience I can get this fella back on display, with his wonky bubble.

Will update the thread as I work on it for any that are interested.

Love a rescue me :D

Just noticed as well, the left hand lower half of the bubble seal, where it is misaligned and over hangs is all crinkled, would this have been the original sealing process that cause this ?

Nice card and bubble! Good luck with the rescue :)

I'm sure you are correct and this is a misaligned bubble with its original cardback, which as you say, must have slipped through Kenner's QC back in the 80's! I have a wavy bubble card or two myself, although nothing quite as spectacularly 'drunken' as this one! :) And yes, I'm sure you are also spot on about the wavy bubble edge being a result of the heat sealing process, since that part of the bubble had no backing card behind it to mitigate the effects of the heat and instead the plastic simply warped and crinkled.

Nice piece Mike! A Hoth Trooper focus collector would go nuts for this!

How did you manage to eliminate the wave in the bubble? I've always had problems with this myself, boxes are a piece of cake as they iron out fine but MOCs have always been harder to do.

Yeah love the quirkiness of this one, great it sneaked through and didn't get binned

Just iron and starch and muslin cloth mate
